Saudi Arabia executes member of royal family

A prince was convicted of murder. It is extremely rare for the Kingdom to execute a member of the royal Saudi family. Although details were not forthcoming, in most Saudi executions the convicted are beheaded in public. According to human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, Saudi Arabia ranks only behind China, Iran, and (probably) North Korea in annual executions. KSA has executed 120+ individuals so far in 2016.

Yes indeedy. The scumbag Saudis. Joined at the hip with the US as their greatest ally. Sponsers of ISIS terrorism worldwide, but especially in Syria and Iraq. It's terrific how your avatar reflects your cerebral vacuity. A masterful stroke, don't ya' know?

Knowing what we know now, why are we still allies with them?

Knowing what we know now, why are we still allies with them?

Considering how little oil the US gets from Saudi, that's a good question.

Considering how little oil the US gets from Saudi, that's a good question.

Bush and Obama say it's because they feed us intel on all of the ME terrorists. Now we know that they are the terrorists.

I might not be the smartest guy on Earth, but I think this is the wrong move.

Knowing what we know now, why are we still allies with them?

Because it's a very strategically important part of the world

As the US state dept described it in 1945 ...................... “a stupendous source of strategic power, and one of the greatest material prizes in world history”

The US doesn't rely on ME oil but those they consider rivals do , see above post about how the US state dept characterised it in 1945.

Not only that they are the ones spreading/funding the most extremist forms of Islam around the globe and yet they are US allies in the War on Terror. I'm afraid the joke is on us

We have been allies with Saudi Arabia since the 1940s and I think they have met some obligations.

For one thing, Saudi Arabia did not go to war with Israel when all other neighboring Arab countries did.
