Moscow and Ankara Will Cooperate to End Bloodshed in Syria

OMG lulz. When the U.S. is attempting to increase more support for the Kurds, I wouldn't be surprised if Turkey is pushing this just to minimize American influence.

Well, that seems to be it for the Kurds I think, Putin has no reason to care about them, right? Iran has no reason to care about them, right?

I surmise that there is a quid pro quo. Erdogan OKs the Turkish Stream Pipeline and Putin/Assad let Turkey keep the Eastern Syrian desert. The USA loses control of Northern Iraq and Turkey allies with Barzani. This screws the USA but then again Erdogan has been a scumbag of an ally. I think the CIA/Gulen deal really screwed the pooch for US MidEast interests.

Putting in new national borders is damn hard..what do you mean by "keep"?

Turkey moved tanks and troops into northeastern Syria, allegedely to fight ISIS, but in reality fighting to prevent the Kurds from gaining too much influence in the area. They also have troops and tanks in Northern Iraq, but at the same time have cordial relations with Barzani and a somewhat autonomous Northern Iraq.

No. We seem to be in an age when international law is violated sans concomitant consequence.

International law was never a thing, and it will not be till we have a global government.

et al,

The US should be involved in any optional military adventure with the Republic of Turkey. It is not like Turkey is ever going to assist the US.

While Russia is one of those countries that the US should develop a closer rapport, we should not assist or oppose Russian involvement in the suppression of DAESH.

As with all things there will be exceptions. And those exceptions would be when a case of US interest can be clearly articulated. If the Egyptians "want assistance" in the Sinai then and only then should we give it. But we should not ask to intervene.

The US should not be concerned at all about actively maintaining US influence in the Arab League countries of the Middle East. If Lebanon wants Hezbollah to takeover the al-Bekka Valley, then we should let Hezbollah eat Lebanon slowly and painfully. That is their cross to bare.

There should be no Arab World country that the US should be concerned about. And there should be but a few African nations we should assist.

Most Respectfully,
R

Agreed. Just look at how the U.S. arms and trains terrorists in Syria.
