My two newest - I've kept snakes for a very long time. Just animals I enjoy working with. Always non-venomous - those are way to expensive to keep responsibly.

I've had amphibians also at times, but always preferred snakes.

Pictured ( hopefully I can get them on here ) is an Okeetee Cornsnake first then my new little Arizona Mountain Kingsnake.

Cool, curious if he has any cool animals.

Noticed you have more than 100 thousand posts ! How ? I was at a forum for like 14 or more years and was only near 40 thou. LOL

He's Australian and rather into it.

This forum has lots to talk about and many members. A conversation or debate can generate twenty posts in the blink of an eye. One can debate in multiple threads at once.

How to think & type that fast ... I can't do it LOL

But I was at another past forum that was like that - it has disappeared/no longer exists.

We are the premier. I'm surprised Spud hasn't been around yet. Should be today or tomorrow.

I like snakes but if I brought one home, after my wife clubbed it to death, I'd worry she might not stop with the snake.

I'm fine with just watching YouTube videos of them from time to time.

It's always the wife or the parents LOL

I CAN understand though in ways. MYSELF, I have NO idea why anyone would want to keep tarantulas. Or the growing new trend of Isopods LOL WHY ???

Snakes are vertebrates, so I can work with them.. at least understand them a little - they have a spine too at least LOL

Bugs... bug me

Not so much thinking fast as experience. 10 years of debating politics means one knows all the issues, all the arguments, all the sides. And I started 20 years before that. It's only the details left to be debated for an individual. I'm not learning various topics, I'm arguing about details or applying principles. It's like talking about various novels one has all but memorized.

Typing fast is required. I learned playing a text game (MUD) online before the internet using modems. It was pvp and teams thus requiring communication during game. If not for that, I dunno when I learn to type fast. I don't type proper.

Inverts are great. I've got a bioactive terrarium set up in one of my old lizard tanks, with a few native cockroaches, isopods and millipedes, plus 3 scorpions to keep populations in check.

Yep. My wife wouldn't abide a snake and it's half her house so....

I had a pet Eastern Hognose when I was a kid of about 17. I've always liked snakes and been fascinated by them. I've been known to stop a 25 ton excavator in order to move a snake to safety. At times I've accidentally killed a snake and felt bad about it. Once I was deliberately involved in facilitating the death of a boa constrictor and I feel bad when I think about it to this day.

However, I would kill a venomous snake if I found one in close proximity to human habitation. Especially if there were kids around.

Now I would prefer Madagascar day geckos in that terrarium. Little jewels they are. Sort of high maintenance though, I kept one a few years back, gorgeous display animals.

Nice !

There's a guy here in my state who is working with Australian black head pythons ( Aspidites melanocephalus ) I have no idea how much he had to pay to get them, but I THINK his goal is to breed. Expensive animals in the states LOL He's also working with S.A. Mussuranas.

I'm at the point where I have to keep my collection small, 3 or fewer animals, and animal size small - no real big ones.

So I'm sticking to colorful colubrids. Will help me with educating people about snakes - giving talks at schools etc

I'm limited to Aus natives, our wildlife laws are pretty strict. I'm considering putting in some small native skinks, but I'd worry about the scorpions eating them.

That's probably a good thing though.

Here in Florida we're paying people to find and kill burmese pythons - they're taking over in the everglades I guess....irresponsible snake owners.

And Australia has some of the neatest creatures, it's no wonder they want to keep their wildlife safe.

I went to a place called O-Reillys (sp?) outside of Brisbane way back in 1990 to help with some rainforest research. Loved exploring the rainforest.

Speaking of your native skinks, have you ever kept or considered keeping one of the land mullets ? BIG black skink-like lizard. I saw them around when I was there at O-Reillys, but they would dive into their ground holes so fast I could never catch one. Maybe a good thing I don't know, a skink that big can probably offer a nasty bite.
