19 mph? You have to be young with flexible bones!!

My bones are getting brittle too, they'll probably start turning into hollow bones like birds soon. I thought I might be the oldest rider, but someone on their forum posted that they're 74 years old. With the 750 watt motor in the tire the thing weights just under 30 pounds (I've got some dings on my shins). I wouldn't want to be thrown off at 19+ mph, but there's an app that records max speed and total miles. 14.3 max mph, only 25 total miles.

I hadn't ridden a skateboard for 49 years until a few weeks ago. But this is a whole new take on the concept. You'd think that with a motor it would take less energy than a skateboard, but it's the opposite, it's the most exercise I've done in years.

Balancing side to side (not fore/aft) takes muscles you didn't know you had. The day after I rode it the first time, I was sorer than I've been in decades, even my butt was sore. But I need the exercise and this is so much fun, I'll be riding it as much as possible, at least until I break a major bone...

Good luck, I never was able to master this thing:

$1,800 for a skateboard?

That's much harder, the OW actually is self-balancing until you push it too far, like accelerating too fast. It's very intuitive, you just think about it and you're ding it.

I bought mine for $1650.00 :)

Well a year later in 2020, after 909 miles, after 2 pints of beer and way too much overconfidence I had a bad fall and broke my wrist. After that my wife demanded I stop, which I did for 3 years. But life is just too short and boring to not take risks and I've convinced her to relent. Riding a Onewheel is just like 'carving' back and forth through snow on a snowboard. It's just soo much fun!

Now that I've completely quit drinking, I know that if I ride responsibility I'm likely to survive. So I thought I'd check back and see if anyone else has bought one since 2019...

If I was younger...
It's never too late, well almost ;)

Holy friggin molly, that guy is nuts! He must have been going 30-35+? It's one thing risking being thrown off a motorcycle, but on a unicycle?? There're so many potential failure points, a flat tire, the gyro, or a bearing, or? But it sure looked like fun :p

The top speed I had my Onewheel up to was 16.8, that might have been the speed I was going when I fell, I don't know. In any case I've learned my lesson and won't be approaching anywhere near that speed again. I'll be turning 69 in a few months and while I'm willing to take risks, I don't have a death wish. I want to get one of those camera sticks and I'll post a video sometime in the future...
