They're coming around and my 9 year old son wants to go. I'm wondering what the crowd is like. He begged to go to Green Day a few months ago and I said no way and a bunch of his friends and their moms ended up going. He wasn't happy and I felt like I was being silly. He's really into music and goes to the School of Rock. I'm not too concerned about the lyrics, (his current favorite album is Beastie Boys "Licensed to I'll"), I'm more concerned about the environment. Flying beer cans, weed, fights, drunken debauchery. Friends that went to Green Day said it wasn't terrible, besides the pot smoke in the air that you can't do anything about. But then I had a friend bring her son to the RHC Peppers and said it was a disaster.

Havent been to a FF show but I did go to a Greenday one. Yeah, lots of kids with moms- the band has matured and they have their own kids so its pretty much a family affair nowadays.

What's your fear?

The rowdiness of the crowd. Of course my husband would be with him but he's a not big guy. Things can get out of hand very quickly when alcohol is involved. I was almost punched in the face in Boston by a drunk guy after a Bruins/Rangers game for wearing a Rangers jersey. And the Bruins won and I was minding my own business.

I highly doubt a Foo Fighters concert is anything like a sporting event.

I'm smaller than average and I've never been assaulted at any concert.
Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Aerosmith, Rush, Rainbow, (all in Philadelphia) smaller shows with local punk rock bands in downtown Baltimore and Philly.....

Rowdiness depends on the type of crowd bands attract. FF shows arent known for it. Sporting events are also very different from rock concerts. I think your son will enjoy it.

I've been to various concerts where I expected some rowdiness but saw nothing - G n' R, Soundgarden, NIN, Black Sabbath. But then, I no longer get general admissions. Always seats of some kind, even if I end up standing the whole time. Only time I had to deal with any was in general admission (ie, a Tool concert once).

I'd say you're probably fine in seats. I certainly haven't heard anything about Foo Fighters shows being particularly rowdy.

Yeah. Many moons ago when they opened for the Chili Peppers in Phoenix. It was a fun show. I wouldn't worry too much if he's got an adult to be with.

I wouldn't recommend taking any nine year old to a FFs concert, or any other type of 'rock' concert but if your son really wants to go then send him off with Dad.

FFs play here @ a 20K seat venue so, if your husband takes your son to see the show I expect the crowd size will be UUUUUGE ........

I'm going to see these two guys (brothers) in a couple of nights @ a very small venue ........... they must have been about your son's current age when they made this video  ................ they are now known as The Lemon Twigs ..............

Why?

What's wrong with rock concerts?

if I were a parent I wouldn't want my nine year old going to see a rock band in a crowd of 15K to 25K people but that's just me

I have been going to rock shows since 1976 & I have seen the good & the bad that happens at these 'gatherings'

it's typically nothing but then some times **** gets pretty strange, or worse ..........

if Dad is going with the kid, they should be OK

Jesus dude....what if????

Any 9 year old is in far greater danger every time they get on a school bus than they would be at a Foo Fighters concert.

Now you can get all "Las Vegas", or Ariana Grande on me, but I can counter with Newtown Elementary.

So, what if

Yeah... foo fighters... fun music. It's not like a Rage Against the Machine mosh pit fest.

Eh....id be more concerned about causing hearing loss.

But that's about it. I've....Rob Zombie, Systom of a Down, Smashing Pumpkins (twice), Adema, and Ozzy. Never saw a single issue. No fights, no problems. Oh, and Ziggy Marly, the Pliars....and those both got raided by the cops.

Because.....pot.
