Defund the police - 105 dead in july in Chicago

Declarations of war don’t have to be discussed every two years. ARMY FUNDING BILLS cannot be for longer than 2 years. There’s no limit on how long a war can last so long as Congress continues to fund the Army.

In other words, the right wing is a failure at winning wars and had to get political about it for the bottom line?

Where is that opinion from Yale found in the Constitution?

lol. Nothing but appeals to ignorance?

The Federalist Number Forty

There are two rules of construction, dictated by plain reason, as well as founded on legal axioms. The one is, that every part of the expression ought, if possible, to be allowed some meaning, and be made to conspire to some common end. The other is, that where the several parts cannot be made to coincide, the less important should give way to the more important part; the means should be sacrificed to the end, rather than the end to the means.--https://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/fed40.asp

The only thing remotely approaching defunding is stuff like this:

Berkeley moves to replace police with unarmed civilians for traffic stops

Unarmed police but only for traffic stops, in Berkley, CA, which I haven't heard of being a particularly dangerous place.

Enough of these moronic lies about Hated Librulz wanting to abolish police. Maybe some wannabe anarchist with a sign somewhere wants that, but nobody who matters is advocating for it or will do it.

.... and Berkley is surrounded by Oakland, Richmond and Vellejo... some of the most violent places in the USA.

This is what our Second Amendment would look like if it was about Individual rights:

SECTION 22. RIGHT TO ARMS
Subject only to the police power, the right of the individual citizen to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
(Source: Illinois Constitution.)

Awesome. The days of believing cops should be treated as dirty harry types are going to end.

While I support police accountability, I'd hate to see a scenerio where criminal lowlifes sue for being brought down hard. IOW, there should certain conditions and limitations. Obviously body cameras should be mandatory in conjunction.

Words still mean something. Our Constitution is express not implied in any way.

The pledge has nothing to do with constitutional law.

They already are. Body cams are not a new thing and police are still getting away with heinous brutality and guess why? Qualified immunity. Ill take the chance that an improper lawsuit could be brought up over the near impenetrable shield which requires the utmost strict of reading of precedent before an officer can be held accountable. The guys that killed george floyd knew they were being recorded, they just thought they could get away with it. No immunity and accountability to the peolple are a must.

Police body cameras aren't enough.

The police regularly "forget" to turn them on.
They "lose" the footage.
They simply refuse to give the footage that they did take.
And, police cameras can be deceiving. This article has some good examples why this is so.

Filming the police in the Floyd case didn't stop the brutal murder of Floyd, but it did expose it. People need to film all police interactions that they see and get an unbiased 3rd person view of what is going on. Because if you leave it to the police to capture images, this is what you'll get...

lol. Are you on the right wing? Our pledge has to do with morals and ethics.

Lol. I started leaving the right before Trump became president. The last 3years only cemented such decision. Who are the ones constantly castigating people for not being patriotic enough? Maybe you got some reich wing bona fides to sort out.

Only right wingers seem to have a problem with the general welfare but not the general warfare.

Ummmm i have the opposite sympathies lol... i dont have a problem with the general welfare. You dont need to keep this going.

IDK. I hear all these people who want to take the police out of schools. These are the same people who will blame the police when a mass shooting hits those schools.

It is all political. Trump took the stand to help cities and police with the crime and shootings. So the left attacks the police and undermines anything positive that could help their chance at elections. They clearly could care less about the people being terrorized by these terrorist. Now the law abiding citizens no longer have police to protect them from the bad guys.

Sure, but even taking Trump out of it, LEO's are damned if they do and damned if they don't. No idea why anybody would bother wanting that job these days.

I was an MP and even back in the early 80's every one I worked with treated people as equally as possible. Maybe it was the military but most of these MP's went on to become civilian police. I still have lots of police as friends and I must have a much better circle of friends than most because I don't know a single cop that is out to mistreat black people.

In Chiraq? Clearly is.

Is it one of those lingering irritations always running in the background? America the Great Liberal Welfare State that became the richest, strongest nation in the history of civilization. And you and your kind want to dick with a winning formula. go figger.

The point was, our Civil War should have never happened since we have an eminent domain clause. I believe most of our woes are due to that disenfranchisement of the South.

What does "eminent domain" have to do with the Civil War?

Libs didn't build America, but they're doing everything they can to destroy it, like they've done to Chicago.
