The district attorney said Nichole Anderson, 42, and David Nelson, 53, both residents of Martinez, California, would be charged with three misdemeanor counts, including a hate crime, for their alleged actions over the holiday weekend when Anderson covered up a Black Lives Matter mural with black paint and Nelson directly aided in her alleged criminal conduct. The incident was captured on video by witnesses and went viral. The temporary Black Lives Matter mural in downtown Martinez was painted in front of the Wakefield Taylor Courthouse on Saturday, July 4, after a resident applied for a permit that was granted by the city. More than 100 people — all wearing masks and almost all showing concern for social distancing — helped paint the words over a five-hour period.

After the mural was completed, Nelson and Anderson allegedly arrived at the scene with paint supplies. Using black paint and a large paint roller, Anderson started to paint over the yellow letters "B" and "L" in the word "Black." Both defendants have been charged with violation of civil rights, vandalism under $400 and possession of tools to commit vandalism or graffiti. The alleged offenses are exempt from a specific bail amount due to the current county bail schedule in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. If convicted, they could face up to a year in county jail.

I don't believe this rises to the level for incarceration, but a stiff fine and a substantial community service sentence are certainly in order.
 
Protesters graffiti, vandalize, loot and burn cities in the name of "Black Lives Matter" and that's just fine but covering up graffiti is a "hate crime".

Sure. A few were arrested and then released out the back door because nobody felt like prosecuting. We know that happened because of all the GoFundMe accounts for getting "peaceful protesters" out of jail.

The Democrats didn't make ONE CALL for an end to the violence and destruction outside of hollering to round up white "agitators". Democrats handed over the city streets to criminals and treated the police as if THEY were the criminals.

Yeah, that's what's coming in 2021 if Joe Biden wins. We had the academic discussion of the situation during the primaries and a practical application of the plan over the past couple of months. America couldn't ask for a better preview of what the campaign platform would look like if enacted.

It's part of their narrative. That somehow people believed that on whole people believe the looting and rioting to have been OK and no one got in trouble for it, but dissent against the protests is ubiquitously and systematically punished.

And you being a Trump supporter may want to be careful before you point fingers at others when it comes to condemning violence. Trump has openly called for violence, let alone condemning it. And many, many of his supporters are following his words.

Just sayin..

We were a divided country in the past, Trump has made things 100% worse.

The reaction to Trump is what made it worse. The left and the establishment wing of the GOP lost their damned minds when he got elected and now we're looking at a Democratic party that is supporting outright communism and factions in the GOP that are supporting the Democrats.

Like I said, what we saw since the end of May is merely a preview for what we'll see if Biden wins and this "hate crime" for covering up a BLM painting is case in point. The only people the Democrats seek to hold to any behavioral standard whatsoever are the ones they disagree with politically. It's 100% politics and the only reason the Democrats have laws at all is to use them as a bludgeon against their political "enemies".

There was no bull**** "Russiagate" with Obama where the establishment politicians made up a story, paid the Russians to corroborate the story, got the FBI, DOJ and other intel agencies to "investigate" even after they KNEW it was a hoax, got a special prosecutor to "investigate", got NOTHING out of all that and then decided to impeach based on a phone call where some asshole congressman literally, and in front of the TV cameras, MADE UP the accusation even when the call transcript was a public record.

The Democrats and the NeverTrumpers have their heads so far up their asses....It should be intellectually impossible to believe all the bull**** that the Democrats and their propagandists in the media are pushing but for some strange reason it just keeps geetting worse.

That you would compare a fringe "birther" movement to the use of the FBI, DOJ, NSA,CIA and likely other foreign intel services as a "legitimate" means to "investigate" the Trump campaign and the Trump administration for "crimes" that the Democrats LITERALLY MADE UP is where this whole thing goes off the rails. I know this might be an emotionally difficult concept to confront and I fully validate your feelings of pain, confusion, anger and anxiety. Those are all valid feelings and they show that you are, in fact, human. You're a beautiful person and it's not your fault that you're trying to justify the intolerable by changing the subject from that of the OP.

Anyway, just to help you get past this trauma, Benghazi involved overt LIES by the Obama administration in general and Hillary Clinton in particular. It involved obstruction of oversight committee investigations and the only reason it came up with "nothing" is because the Obama administration didn't hand anything over.

Pizzagate and birtherism WERE fringe movements. While both got some attention in the press they damned sure didn't get congressional investigations and the involvement of the entire intelligence community to ferret out the "truth". As far as Bill Barr goes, y'all can't stand the guy because he didn't give you the version of the Mueller report that you wanted. He merely gave you the findings as they were.
