Explain how defunding police reduces police abuse?

Equal protection of the laws for unemployment compensation in our at-will employment States would be better.

Yes, there are real problems in inner city neighborhoods, still. Yet 2/3 of blacks have escaped there. The fact that things are still rough there is certainly no reason to stop now. It means it's time to focus more energy on the things that HAVE worked. IMO.

Police enforce laws, like vagrancy, loitering, open air drug markets, narcotic use, drunk in public, urinating in public, ****ting in public.
...unless they are instructed not to by City Councils, D.A.'s, Mayors, etc.

Democrats have decided not to prosecute crimes and laws on the books. The results we all see of the failed policies are the ruin of cities and people. Democrats, their lawyers, and the ACLU will sue you if you try to intervene and help someone off the street.

They'd rather let the mentally ill eat from trash cans and fight demons in their heads alone, barely clothed, and out in plain sight.

What do you suggest, put them in jail? A roof over their head and 3 squares a day. For how long? The rest of their lives?

Many need inpatient treatment, but first they need to be detained and evaluated, not just for mental health reasons but for a full physical, dental, etc. These folks are suffering, can't take care of themselves, haven't had proper nutrition in years, and probably have a host of deficiencies and possible diseases and untreated conditions.

Democrats are satisfied to have them eat out of trashcans and slap themselves in the head over and over.

It's a disgrace. If we need to build in-patient treatment centers, so be it.

You know the R party defunded the mental health programs we had. Most of it anyway.

So, some of the money to defund the police can be put towards mental health programs. I could go with that.
