Trump campaign sues New York Times for libel

President Trump’s re-election campaign filed a lawsuit against the New York Times on Wednesday, charging that a column it published in 2019 libeled the president when it said his 2016 campaign was working with Russia to defeat Hillary Clinton.

The lawsuit says the column, published on March 27, 2019, falsely stated the “campaign had an ‘overarching deal’ with ‘Vladimir Putin’s oligarchy’ to ‘help the campaign against Hillary Clinton’ in exchange for ‘a new pro-Russian foreign policy, starting with relief from … economic sanctions,” Jenna Ellis, senior legal adviser to Donald J. Trump for President, Inc., said in a statement.

“The statements were and are 100 percent false and defamatory. The complaint alleges The Times was aware of the falsity at the time it published them, but did so for the intentional purpose of hurting the campaign, while misleading its own readers in the process,” the statement said.

The lawsuit was filed in New York State Supreme Court.
 
They will get nothing from the Times.

And that is a good thing.

Another SLAPP lawsuit by Trump & Friends. A nuisance lawsuit brought by Devin Nunes against DevinNunes' Cow was tossed last week.

"Cept, they aint journalists. They are there for one reason and one reason only.....to impeach Trump. They are bloggers anyway. They aren't journalists just because a paper or TV station hires them. No one waves a magic wand over their heads and says "I hereby anoint you as a journalist"
 
What you can be sure of is that this frivolous suit against an opinion piece is meant to serve as a distraction from some other idiocy that Trump is currently involved in.

The NY Times has a plethora of left wing liberals on their staff. If you were to look them up as far as their background, you would find very few of them have journalism training. the same holds true for the pundits on CNN and MSNBS. Their main job is to ridicule and demean Trump and try to get him impeached. They are not unbiased reporters. They are a wing of the Democratic party. Because of that, I would like them to go out of business.

There was an internet based "news" group that went out of business awhile back and some of their snotty "reporters' suggested the Virginia coal miners could learn to code after losing their jobs. As if a general laborer could suddenly take up computer science and transition from coal mining. So.........when those people lost THEIR jobs, some said they could "learn to code' and the liberals at fB, YouTi=Ube and Twitter considered this to be hate speech and deleted such comments and went so far as to demonetize or ban those who posted such things.

What I get from that explanation is you hate the Times because they have too many reporters who do not share your own politics.
