Massachusetts prosecutors said a 17-year old boy decapitated a classmate two years ago because he suspected he was romantically involved with his girlfriend at the time.

… Borges was 15 years old when he allegedly killed fellow student Violoria-Paulino, beheaded him, cut off his hands, and then dumped his remains in the Merrimack River in November 2016.

… During opening statements of the trial on Monday, …the Essex County assistant district attorney read a text message that Borges allegedly sent to a female friend.

"I think of killing someone and I smirk," the text message read. "It's all I think about everyday but I control myself...I like the sound of it--the idea of causing pain in someone getting in my way or causing me pain." Mathew Borges will stand trial as an adult, and I'm glad for it.

He sounds like a very sick young man. He is threat to all those around him and should be removed from society.

Sick? I think he is evil...no conscience whatsoever...

He was just a kid and often kids don't understand the ramifications of their actions...

Kids go through phases... it is immoral to judge this young man and ruin his life just because he made a mistake.

I think the whacked-off head and hands were powerful visual aids.

Got to be honest, this is a difficult one.

Based on what that guy said, he's clearly screwed up in a bad way. I'd say give him an extensive mental evaluation. If it turns out that he has some sort of mental disorder, see if he can get it fixed. If that's not possible, then he should be kept in a secure facility.

If it turns out that he's just plain evil? Well, I guess he's too young for the death penalty, so I guess just stick him in a cell for the rest of his life. Hardly any better, of course...

So far, sounds irretrievably screwed up, too high risk to ever believe he could change, even if he wanted to. Let him find some way to serve society from inside prison, if he ever decides he wants to contribute again.
