I'm specifically thinking about Presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro, who nearly died from a recent knife attack. What if he said during the campaign that he can imagine that being knifed and losing 40% of his blood might be somewhat like being raped? Then he can go on to say that he plans to protect both men and women from violence. Would this hurt him or help him? Why?

Well, there's no limit to what one is able to claim, so I guess the answer must be "yes." As for whether the man's having been knifed is a valid basis for his claiming that experience as being how/why he understands what it's like to be raped, well, no, it's not.

People can and do think, thus say, all sort of things. Whether what they say "holds water" is a wholly different matter.

No, but I also don’t think someone who HAS been raped can know what it was like for another person. Everyone’s suffering is unique.

Comparing being knifed to being raped? Uhhh... No.

Is there any particular reason you ask such weird and creepy questions?

Which is worse and more deserving of additional resources and why?

Worse is opinionated but I would say being raped is far worse than being knifed... I was almost knifed and it scared me but the idea of being raped absolutely terrifies me to death. I can't imagine if I was a small woman how terrorizing it would be.

Depends on where he's knifed. I would have to say that Ms. Bobbets ex could probably make the claim and it be believable.

False (and creepy) equivalence.

Your threads are not normal.

Creepy thread.

They are both bad.

But here is the difference, A person who was stabbed will be seen as a victim .

A person who is raped has to convince somebody she wasn't asking for it or was flat out lying. She has to struggle about whether to even to go to the ER or police because she may be put in a position of complete and utter humiliation. She may be told by family to keep it quiet because of the stigma it will bring her and the family.

Which is worse? Oh hell...how can that even be judged. But completely different.
