The ordinary face of evil

I would shoot him for free, convict him and put him down.

Too easy, IMO. I want him to live a very long and very healthy life.

You look at the picture of those two little girls and it hurts to know their last minutes on earth was being strangled by someone they trust.

They had no chance surviving an attack by an adult male.

Then he tossed their limp bodies into a tank filled with oil like you would toss a used kleenix.

You take this case and Susan Smith who drove her two sons strapped in their childseats into a lake and then Andrea Yates who drowned her 5 children in a bathtub and ask yourself how can this occur?

Crazy? Crazy would mean he didn't understand what he was doing. No, the title of the thread has it right. He's evil.

When little children ask if monsters are real, you must tell them yes, monsters are real, but they just look and sometimes act like ordinary people.

When they ask about vampires, ghosts, and the monster under the bed, you can tell them those aren't real.

But monsters are definitely real.

I knew he was lying from the first. In the interview they asked him if they argued and he said, "we had an emotional conversation."

And how could he be so stupid, her keys, wallet, phone, were all still there in the home.

Baser than an animal.

I saw that but for the prosecutor to get him for killing the girls he needs a motive.

"They could testify that they saw him kill mommy."

"They would be unwanted baggage in his relationship with that other woman."

What he's said, but prosecutors didn't buy it for a second, is that he saw that his wife had strangled the one little girl and was strangling the other and that he went crazy and strangled her.

The marks on the girl's necks will say who did it by the size of the hand.

Christopher Watts will appear in court today, accused of killing his pregnant wife and two little girls, 3 and 4. I watched the interview he gave on his front porch to the press, and he was so sincere--so desperate for his family to come home. I was struck by how normal this man seemed. Two darling little girls, his first son on the way, a wife who posted to social media all the time how wonderful he was. He has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder, three counts of tampering with a corpse, and also unlawful termination of a pregnancy.

And his story now is that his wife returned home from a business trip, he told her he wanted to separate, she strangled one little girl, and in a "rage" as he saw her strangling the other, he strangled her.

And, surprise, surprise, he was carrying on with a coworker. What did he hope to accomplish by killing his family? How can someone so sick appear to be so normal?!

Though I had the same thoughts as you when watching the guy on the first day, I wondered if he wasn't putting on a bit of a show. Suspicious and cynical are often my middle names. ;)

Nothing wrong with that. You and I provide balance to the universe. ;)
