RALEIGH
Frederick Darnell Hall, the man whose altercation with Raleigh police officers was captured on video Friday afternoon, has been arrested on multiple charges, according to arrest records.

Hall, 44, has been charged with assault on a government official, physically injuring a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. He was arrested Sunday at WakeMed’s campus on New Bern Avenue, according to arrest records. He is being held at the Wake County Detention Center.

I expect this arrest to stir deep resentment and result in serious repercussions in Raleigh.

What do you expect?

Trying to incite a Rodney King moment, huh? Well too bad, dork:

The bastard was obviously assaulting police officers, and deserves
to spend a few days, or weeks, in jail prior to trial.

I guess body cams work both ways, there was not even excessive force, given how violent he was they could have easily shot him dead and would have been in their legal rights, instead they chose minimum force, using batons rather than stun guns or actual firearms to subdue him.

Hint if you want sympathy make sure you are not on camera, as claiming police brutality is a no go when the camera shows the exact opposite.

Did you call me a dork?

Does this mean you do not expect serious repercussions in Raleigh?

Not unless people want to pull the same stuff as other previous events where the media lied and misled people, however given the cam footage it is likely any media attempt to stir conflict would be quickley shot down.

I probably looked at more video footage than you. No doubt Frederick Hall acted out of control. I predict serious criticism of some of the actions taken by some of the officers after the officers had Mr. Hall on the ground.

What do I expect?

I expect commotion from the locals, flogged on by the democrats and the news media (same thing really) at it fits their preferred narrative.
I expect the police to pull back in response.
I expect that the locals will cry to have the police back, which won't be covered by the media nor the democrat politicians as it doesn't fit their preferred narrative.

Re: Raleigh NC Melee: Police subdue a Black Man named Frederick Hall

I withdraw the comment- sorry.

Thank you.

I have given you at least five "Likes" already in August.... mainly because of your rampant dislike of Chump.

If and when you want to insult me, please use the Basement. You can count on me to respond.

Raleigh lies like what... 75 miles east of Greensboro? Please consider updating this thread if the Frederick Hall incident becomes a Hot Topic in Greensboro.

I plan on visiting an old (1981 Thru-Hiker) A.T. buddy and UNC grad in the Greensboro area in September.

Peace to you and yours!

I appreciate all the likes I can get, and I promise not to let up on my rampancy!

I am sometimes overprotective of my home state and its citizens, which to their credit have throughout my life avoided the urban rioting seen elswhere. That remains the case to date in re the FH episode.

Did you know that Jesse Jackson, as an early 1960s Civil Rights pioneer, got his start with peaceful demonstrations while a student at NC A&T University here in Greensboro?

Enjoy your visit. I am also a UNC (CH) grad.

I must draw attention to an error I made.

NC A&T University in Greensboro was the scene of a sad 4-day riot in 1969. One person was killed.

I was in college in Chapel Hill. I would certainly have known of the riot, but it then escaped my memory.

Re: Raleigh NC Melee: Police subdue a Black Man named Frederick Hall

this is the video i found damning of the police

What you linked to did not damn the police.

I feel certain some of the people who love the perp (Frederick Hall) watched extended video footage and felt some of the police used excessive force. I don't see this story going away quickly!

I provided a link to another article... one that provides a more extended version of video footage.

My trail buddy worked before and after his hike at Pyewacket Restaurant. One summer I had a friend on his way up from Florida to Cape Cod drop me off with my bike in Chapel Hill. I had a great time with my trail buddy and his friends. Then I biked back to Tampa Florida, right down US1 through Sanford. I made it into South Carolina on day 1. Good memories!

Friendships happen for reasons far too complex for me to sort out. I want to share with you a tidbit of my North Carolina roots through my paternal grandmother's lineage: One-Eye John McIver (b. abt. 1759) immigrated from Scotland to Moore County, NC. I believe One-Eye fathered at least 12 children... the one named Duncan... blah blah blah.. led to James who married Florence Johnson. Their oldest child, Fernia, being my paternal grandmother.

One of my favorite anonymous quotes: Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "Wow - what a ride!"

As for politics - I feel ya'. If I did not have the luxury of a safety net through the largess of my family, I would invest in and participate far less in politics than I do.

Something we both really connect to: remembering some of the depth of passion it took to successfully hike the Appalachian Trail end-to-end.

Not really sure why the cops felt that they had to go toe to toe with this guy... why not use a taser?

At least one officer used a taser. It did not stop Mr. Hall. He has a verifiable history of mental illness and clearly a lot of physical strength. Reportedly, he faced off with Raleigh officers at least one other time, in 2016.

Why, there was nothing wrong with police actions. and you know what they didn't do? Pull out the gun and shoot him, they actually tried to subdue him. That is what police should be doing. Although, where is the taser in that situation? That guy was going crazy. Seems a perfect place for a taser. On edit, looks like they did use it.

Anyway, that's how you apprehend a person, particularly mentally ill, you don't just shoot and kill them

I read that at least one officer tased Mr. Hall. Consider reviewing the extended video coverage provided via post #13.

Honestly, in 1977 I worked as an armed Licensed security guard. I believe I would have repeatedly shot Mr. Hall.

Haven't seen any and I live here. In fact, this is the first I've heard of this incident. Mind you, I don't really watch the news.

You can see the one guy try to taser him and it didn't even phase him, so the officer dropped it (you can see the taser dragging on the ground in a couple of shots).

Your proximity to Raleigh and the fact you do not watch news regularly, IMO, makes you a good bellwether on gauging the impact of the incident.

If you hear something about the incident, please provide an update.

Because the tasers didn't worked.

Re: Raleigh NC Melee: Police subdue a Black Man named Frederick Hall

I have a question for the family.... If this man is prone to severe mental anger outburst's, Why is he allowed to be in public without a responsible family member?
