Columbus Police: We Made a ‘Mistake’ Arresting Stormy Daniels

Officials said Stormy Daniels’ arrest at a strip club in Columbus, Ohio was a “mistake” due to a misinterpretation of the law she broke, the Associated Press reports. Columbus police chief Kim Jacobs said “one element of the law was missed in error” when Daniels was arrested on Wednesday night for “illegally rubbing undercover police officers’ faces against her bare breasts,” since the law is only applicable to those who “regularly” perform at strip clubs and Daniels’ performance was her first time at the venue. “A mistake was made, and I accept full responsibility,” Jacobs said hours after prosecutors dropped the three misdemeanor charges against Daniels.

Jacobs also said that the “motivations” of the officers will be “reviewed internally.” Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti posted unsubstantiated screenshots of what he said were pro-Trump social media posts by the arresting officer. Daniels, who is currently suing President Trump after she claimed to have an affair with him before he became president, is currently on a tour performing at strip clubs around the country.

Oops. The partisan 'slip' of the arresting officer is showing.

prolly not gonna but I would hope Stormy's attorney would sue the **** outta the CPD ............. jus' sayin' .........

Men in positions of power and authority ought not be trusted. This incident demonstrates that simple wisdom.

In defense of the officer making the arrest, he couldn't see the actual statue.

There was something being rubbed in his face.

True enough, but why was the officer even there?

Why wasn't his duty time being devoted to something more important than what a stripper is doing?

I haven't been to this type of establishment in many years. However, the "clubs" of this type from my past were not populated by choir boys and glee clubs.

The possibility of finding criminal or dangerous behavior at midnight is probably higher at some venues than at others.

From what I observed 30 or so years ago, these venues have have a higher probability than, say, the local car wash at midnight.

Lol

so you are convinced that this officer acted out of bias but are equally certain that strzok didnt. Good one.

fixed that for you; said:

Well you must have the same suppositions as did our duty-bound police officer, eh?

No probable cause of crime being committed, but watching naked women dance is way better duty than investigating murders and assaults. Nice job!

Well, and there you go. All the excitement for nothing. On to more important things than a hooker who got arrested.

Well it wasn't for nothing. We know she has political enemies, and they are willing to (pardon the pun) trump up charges against her.

Exotic dancers are not necessarily hookers. Like the rest of society, some are and some are not.

Do you know there was no probably cause?

Again, in my very very limited and very outdated experience, there was always probable cause that a crime was about to be committed and that the situation was not completely benign.

When a cop is charged with regulating traffic by enforcing speeding laws, he is more likely to find speeders on the streets and highways than in the baptismal of the local church.

If you're looking for criminals, looking where they are is a good place to start.

I've been going to topless joints and strip clubs for decades, and I have never been harassed or bothered or harmed in any way at any of them. Your visions of it being a playground for crimes and criminals seems a bit dramatic from what I've seen. Maybe too many movies?

Cops can't stop consensual relations between adults, and everybody knows that. All they do is make it worse, usually by getting caught up in some sort of black market enterprise.

They were trying to frame the lady, one way or another. They did, it failed and there is egg on somebody's face, not for the first time.

Well, when the All Star Game was in Minneapolis, I hosted a trip to the game at the "Metrodome" with clients. They had heard about a club on the south side of the Twin Cites that we visited after the game.

In the parking lot while we were "spectating" inside, a headlight was broken on my car.

I visited the can. Upon my return I found that one of my guests was involved in the bit of dust up during which his glasses were broken. The other guy was probably not hurt much unless he hurt his knuckles breaking my guest's glasses.

We left shortly thereafter.

I can't induce this to be representative of all "Gentlemen's Clubs" in the world, but it seems likely that there would be more mischief conducted at 2:00 am in a Gentleman's Club filled with hormone driven drunks than at 10:00 am in the local Baptist Church.

An interesting story, but that does not change anything regarding this case with Stormy Daniels.

As a tax payer, even on the local level, I would object to my taxes being spent to have LEO hang out at such clubs waiting for some obscure law to be broken, or even to supposedly ensure that nobody could commit vandalism in the parking lot.

in 2009 Daniel's political adviser's car was fire bombed in New Orleans ............

It seems obvious she has powerful and determined enemies.

Where do you propose might be a better place for the officers to "hang out"?

Church? ;)

Tasty Crème donuts?

On the serious side, perhaps patrolling neighborhoods looking for criminal activity?

Having spent many years in sales, I have found that looking for prospects where prospects can be found seems to be the most productive use of time and energy.

The story of the guy who lost his wallet in the river comes to mind. He was looking for it in in his living room because there was better lighting.

In this town, the best neighborhoods have the most frequent patrols. The worst neighborhoods, not so much.

The crooks seem to be committing more crimes in the worst neighborhoods.
