Manafort talks his way out of his VIP Treatment Jail

He has been complaining up and down that he is two hours away from his lawyers, asking for a delay in the trial, so the judge moves him closer to DC...... to a standard cell.

The Alexandria jail is “very familiar with housing high-profile defendants including foreign and domestic terrorists, spies and traitors,” Ellis wrote, denying Manafort’s request to leave him in place, about a two-hour drive from his lawyers. The judge added that Manafort’s “access to counsel and his ability to prepare for trial trumps his personal comfort.”

I am remembering one of his kids years ago was telling a friend that pops is not all that bright.

Be careful what you wish for lest you get it.

In light of Mr. Manafort’s continuing detention and after further reflection, issues of distance and inconvenience must yield to concerns about his safety and, more importantly, the challenges he will face in adjusting to a new place of confinement and the changing circumstances of detention two weeks before trial. With these considerations in mind, Mr. Manafort respectfully asks the Court to permit him to remain in his current place of detention,"

A:"NO!"

No, this is a "Be careful of what you complain about because a judge might just have a solution to your claimed problem that really sucks for you".

I hope he is not as lonely in his new digs.

Dont you get the idea that this guy probably made a lot of mistakes in his corruption, that he is going to spend the rest of his life behind bars?

I Do.

I don’t think Mueller has a good case that will stand on appeal.

Many defendends can be isolated from communications at home without putting them in what amounts to a SuperMax prison for associates of Trump. The crux of the appeal will be that he was denied a fair trial due to unnecessary, and unusually coercive measures that were designed to destroy him psychologically so he would fabricate facts on Trump. The other argument is Meuller has used his Special Everything badge to pressure the judge to carry out the unnecessary, and unusually coervice measures rely on Manafort to buttress his case against himself.

SuperMax has an agreed definition...are you claiming that he is going into a SuperMax cell? Also my understanding is that he was always going to be in this jail during the trial, that what has happened is that he is there two weeks early and out of his deluxe digs because of his mouth, so he did this to himself.

Yeah that's got to be it, not Manafort blatantly violating the terms of his probation with attempts at witness tampering...

Manafort is being treated like any other big money defendant who has far greater means than the average defendant and has shown a callous disregard for the power of the court. He may have been able to bamboozle other oversight officials in his business dealings but in a court of law he needs to toe the same line all other defendants must.

I don't think any serious students of the court think Mueller can force the judge to lock step with any 'unusually coercive' measures. But the Trumpers need to gin up a false narrative to throw muck on the process.... I can't wait for Giuliani to start his **** storm... :peace

This WAS the judge who bad mouthed Mueller before giving Mueller everything he wanted. He doesn't sound real impressed by the defendant.

That was windowdressing since she knew immediately it was going to appeal.

Meanwhile, I think we might find agreement in that the defendant is a douchebag.

"The professionals at Alexandria Detention Center are very familiar with housing high profile defendants including foreign and domestic terrorists, spies, and traitors."--from the previously sympathetic judge's order today.

Of which no one has proved he is, and on appeal the judge is going to be ripped to shreds. I won’t even go into the specious reasoning behind extending the statute of limitations just for Manafort with incomplete information from Meullers representatives.

Yeah. I don’t like the guy, but he has the same rights to justice over persecution that you do.

What is this do my eyes behold?

Is it a Duck looking for common ground?

I think that potentially he's looking at espionage.
