Office of first lady calls secret service after actor peter fonda calls for barron trump to be kidna

Probably an overreaction, but what Peter Fonda said was amazingly out of line. Odds are he'll get a visit and not much else will come of this.

Like sister, like brother? Or like a has-been actor attempting to grasp that last bit of fame to get their next part? A casting couch, if you will, because proclaiming to be non-liberal won't turn any Hollywood hirers' heads.

I get what he was doing: trying to get the Trumps to empathize through imagination with the misery the separated families are currently dealing with in real life. But this was a very bad way to do it and now the Secret Service will be taking a look into his life. And he used the phrase “we should” rather than “what if” which gives him even less wiggle room.
 
Hmm... I'm kinda whatever about this... Clearly he had no intention of kidnapping the kid, but he was too pissed off to be smart about how he said it.

I guess this is what happens when you lower the bar as far as it has been in America. Stuff's gonna get weird...

Overreacting? He made a disgusting remark regarding a 12 year old kid, he badmouthed Sanders and advocated violence against a cabinet member.

I have no interest in defending Peter Fonda, I am only saying I highly doubt this was anything other than a way out of line comment by an asshole with a Twitter account.

For what? None of his post as a threat, just a jarring reminder that Melania would never allow her child to be taken from her because she has the "envious" position of being married to the Orange Child Snatcher.

I do think the post by Fonda could have been made less crass and less offensive and still retained the message he wanted to send. Now everybody is going to complain about his words and not the horrendous thing he was trying to address. Really smart Fonda, but not really you dumbass.

The hell I will get over it, your comparison is fatally flawed, Obama was holding children who arrived without parents at the border UNTIL they could be reunited or homed, they did not steal children from their parents in horrendous numbers and not baby's, so not, I will not be getting over anything.

What is worrisome is not that he himself had any intention, but when people put stuff out there like that just gives extremists (on both sides) bad ideas. Tweets from well known people get far more attention than the average Joe saying the same thing.

There is that. And we've seen plenty of that. But there is a difference between an asshole with a twitter account being stupid and that same asshole threatening the President, his family, and cabinet members.

President Trump should make an example of this twittering asshole. Like we should have made an example of his asshole sister. A complaint has been filed. 6 months in the slammer awaiting trial ought to be a good start.

If adults show up at the border with a kid and they can't prove a familial relationship the kid is considered unaccompanied. That's one of the reasons why the number of unaccompanied minors is so high. So yeah it probably happened under Obama as well but not nearly to the extent that it's happening now.

What crime did he commit? Like it or not exaggerated rhetoric, which this is pretty clearly an example of, is protected speech.
