US Police - Gun Culture

Right

And these people are often found unarmed and seen running away from the police officer(s) when shot dead.

US police kill 3-4 people, per day, in the USA.
Are you claiming all of these are justified homicides ?

Not all...

But looking at your link that seems to be the trend. Person X has a weapon, Person X does something stupid, Person X dies.

Did Richard Phillips have a lawyer?

Guessing he had a public defender at his original trial...and still got convicted.

Is your point that it was only because of tireless work by lawyers that he had his conviction overturned ? if that that damns the US justice system even more.

Correct, the Chinese government keeps its numbers down by murdering innocent people.

But back to the USA...which incarcerates more people per capita than China and whose police kill 97 times more people, per year.

So he still had actual representation rather than just being thrown in jail, and then shot.....like he would have in China.

Uh....no, the fact that the US justice system actually tries to ensure innocent people are fairly represented and aren't summarily executed is not "damning" in any way, shape or form.

But back to the USA...which incarcerates more people per capita than China and whose police kill 97 times more people, per year.

So you'd be fine with a justice system which summarily and routinely executes innocent people based on "political crimes"?

I think we've throughly established by now that your crush on the ChiComs has prevented you from facing the reality about the way the Chinese government brutally oppresses his own people.

...snip..So why are US police so murderous ?

I believe you know the answer to your own question.

The USA experienced some 17,000 homicides last year, more than China, Iceland, Germany, and the UK combined. We are a much more violent society than any of the countries you picked to compare us to. And American police are responsible for dealing with all the violent people living here. Until you're willing to do an honest assessment of violence in American society as a whole, you'll always have a skewed opinion of American police.

Our Police are not trigger happy.
The problem and there are a few, are the culprits not complying. They don't pull over or if they do,speed racer B0t enables and speed off dragging the officer.
Another is the officers asked to drop it and they refuse. Now our officers are not mind readers and the culprit doesn't comply but raises his hand...what ya do ?
Here comes the so called " wrong way fear-4-thier-life factor " and the officers are forced to fire and it is unfortunate.
Like the President, cut our police a break.

I'm sure you have a much more accurate source.

In answer to your question yes.

You might also want to compare US v Chinese incarceration rates per capita.

There ARE no accurate sources for such information regarding China.

OK, compare the USA with every other country in the developed world.

But this threead is not just about that - though I'm sure it's related. It's about the numbers of people that US police kill, every day.

But this is happening day after day, year after year
So this "few" seem to be reproducing themselves fairly rapidly

Why are US police killing so many people, day after day ... why is their firearm the first thing they pull out.

Here's an example of what I mean:

British police confronted with a man wielding a machete. They get riot shields and batons and take him into custody where he can't hurt anyone and can get medical help:

Here's a US police response to a similar situation:

Just how trigger happy are US police. How many times do we see a US policemen routinely kill someone ?

In 2015 US police killed 1,200 people

In the first 24 days on 2015, US police killed 59 people - whereas British police killed 54 people, in the previous 24 years

Killed By Police - 2018

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/jun/09/the-counted-police-killings-us-vs-other-countries

2014:
US police killed 1100 people
Canadian police killed 14 people
British police killed 1 person (same as in 2013 Btw)
German police killed 0 people (same as in 2013)
Icelandic police killed 0 people (infact they've only every killed 1 person ... EVER)
Chinese police killed 12 people (with a population 4.5 times larger than the USA)

Let that sink in. Law enforcement in the US killed 92 times more people than a country with nearly 1.4 billion people

"...from 2010 through 2014, there were 4 fatal police shootings in England, which has a population of about 52 million. By contrast, Albuquerque, N.M., with a population 1 percent the size of England’s, had 26 fatal police shootings in that same time period..."

Police in the US Kill Citizens at Over 70 Times the Rate of Other First-World Nations

So why are US police so murderous ?

Do the bad guys in those countries run around shooting at cops... no. Oh, I guess that answers your question.

If you are so worried then go to your local police department or your local mayor and tell them you don't want any police protection anymore. I mean it worked so good for Baltimore maybe it would work for you too.

Correct.

The USA incarcerates more people per head of population than any other country in the world.

Maybe if we just killed them, like some countries, we'd make the cut.

So you're saying the USA has a gun violence problem ?

What is the solution ?

I argued your premise was wrong.

I won that apparently...

Chicago
Philly
Perhaps in a neighboring city near you such as "The ATL" ?
I think we do but it isn't our police.

This isn't your typical one Adam 12 or Police Academy 3. We are dealing with reality.
If a dude has a gun and points at a cop and refuses to drop what ya going to do ?
Wait for him to shoot first ?
What happens when a shooter is in your neighboring middle school and starts firing and you come upon him...what ya going to do ? talk about cabbage patch dolls ?
If he refuses and keeps firing you enabled the Marshall Dillon B0t and open fire on his aspirin.
You do recall by the way the two cops who did not go into this one high school ? More lives could of been saved ya know.
You liberal/Demos should stop being ridiculous and deal with the real issues around here.
