Situation Involving a Physical Confrontation

If I get into a physical confrontation. Lets say Im at college for instance and some other guy gets physical with me. I fight back and I stop him. We're both grown men and we both aren't using any weapons and I stop once I stop him. The way I see that it would be self defense but depending on how badly I hurt him, it might still go to court and I might still face charges. Anyway, if the guy that I beat up, if he happens to have the name Christopher than I strongly feel that that should if not get me completely justified in court, at least really help my case. I am sick and tired of people with the name Christopher who don't deserve it and I am sick and tired of people with the name Christopher who act in ways I don't like.
