Sheriff's deputies in York County, Neb., stopped a pickup truck on Tuesday when they noticed it driving over the center line and the driver failing to signal.

Patrick Jiron, 80, and Barbara Jiron, 83, said they were from northern California and were en route to Boston and Vermont.

Was going to write it was the folks from Cheech Marin or Tommy Chong... but Tommy Chong is 79 and Cheech is 71... ROTFLOL...

Gonna be some disappointed friends and family.

I need better friends.

Yet another example of the War on Christmas.

60 pounds of weed shouldn't be treated any differently than 60 pounds of booze. you should be able to buy it at any legal boozery or gas station. FFS, it's already legally AOK for us to buy booze and smokes at these stores.

Reminds me of a jr high school friend who had ‘cool’ parents. We could party within reason and his mother turned a blind eye to pot use and having an amount for his personal stash. While cleaning his room, one day, his mom found a lb of pot. When asked, he replied, “oh that’s only for my personal use!”

Why, that's just an economy of scale. What self-respecting capitalist would question that?

personal use as in dealing to raise funds to buy more pot and other things. this is something else that selling it at gas stations would largely solve.

also, a pound of pot? that's a lot, and granted, 60 pounds is not for presents unless your Christmas list includes several medium sized communities. that has to be a ****load of money.

Some grandparents give sweaters for Christmas....others give weed.

“Should be” doesn’t really matter. It is still illegal. And they SHOULD have known better. I wonder how many kids these **** birds sell too? **** em and feed em peanuts. Dealers need to be shot like the animals they are.

Personally, I think all weed should be flushed down the toilet.

carrying 60 pounds of pot is not advisable. as for pot in general, it should be legal, IMO.

i wouldn't go that far. however, i don't partake very often. maybe once every four or five years.

Pick any random liquor store and what they sell kills more people per year than all the pot ever sold in that community. If we're going to start shooting "dealers" why not start with the ones doing the most damage? The last ones we get to will be the pot dealers.

Should be legal for adults. Probably 21 and up. Primarily for brain development (same for alcohol honestly).

Last time I checked the local liquor store isn’t allowed to sell to kids, and I challenge you to find one that does. Further. And more importantly to me. Local dealers sell to kids. They also shoot people over their trade and will even encourage kids to sell. **** em and feed em peanuts. The world would be a much better place if we just killed them. Dealers are the scum of the earth and shouldn’t be given the same leniency as a poor addict.

A dealer is a predatory creature.

Ps

With pot...my main concern is the scum who sells and deals and does the unsavory. People like to pretend there isn’t blood in that trade. But there is. I’ve personally known victims.

Making products illegal creates black markets. Black market = crime. Answer? Legalize it and regulate it somewhat like alcohol/tobacco. Prohibition is a proven failure.

$300,000? Either that's a high per gram price or there was a lot of concentrated THC involved. A pound gets the grower a grand, maybe $1,200 here. That's black market prices, I don't know what it goes for through the back door of a dispensary.

Not really my point. I could care less about that. I’m mainly tired of the excuses people make for the **** bag dealers. Legalizing the trade doesn’t make it less predatory and destructive. The only difference in my sentiments on alcohol is that at least they aren’t blowing each other away. Too bad our society expects our kids to start getting plastered at 14 or 15.

I respect that. It's the chronic users that are the real issue. Personally, I am against legalization, other then derivitives with proven medical benefits such as cannabis oil to treat seizures in children.

Making it legal takes it out of the hands of scumbags like you're describing. The local liquor store values it's license too much to sell to minors, and it'd be the same with licensed pot stores. Yeah, there'd still be a few penny-ante losers selling grams to teenagers, just like there's scummy types who bootleg for them, but with the high profit incentive out of the equation, the most agressive and motivated scumbags will move on to some other line.

Those are good arguments for legalizing pot. We've been down this road with alcohol, and ending prohibition all but eliminated crime associated with making and selling alcohol. It's not a hard decision IMO.

You're a conservative, so why do you expect markets will fail to emerge to meet demand? We've got DECADES of evidence to prove that criminalizing pot sales has done really nothing to the flourishing market for pot, and if evidence over decades isn't enough to convince you that War on Pot failed, and will fail, what will it take?

You can bitch and moan about the dealers, but they are the result of a sustained and large public demand for the product, and as long as demand exists, dealers WILL FILL IT. We can either have it filled by criminals who pretty much by definition aren't going to care much about who they sell their product to, OR legal sellers, same way alcohol is sold, and regulated, who face the loss of their livelihood if they sell to minors.

Where did I say I didn’t think it should be legal? My entire point is that if we put dealers to death...I wouldn’t shed tears. Dealers are scum.

You can try and remove personal responsibility all you like...but dealers are predatory. And they need to be treated as such. I don’t care if it is legal or not. I want treatment for addicts to improve and I want dealers to be treated like they are...scum.
