In 1992 Dutch teenager Milica van Doorn was murdered/killed and raped. On Whit Sunday or the day after that (national holiday in the Netherlands) Milica was caught out by a changed planning of the bus company due to the national holiday. So she had to walk back to her house and there she must have run into her killer.
For more than 25 years the case was waiting for a solution/finding the killer and through an appeal among 133 men from Turkish descent, who lived near the place that she went missing/killed.
The appeal was very successful with many of the 133 men who were invited to donate their DNA responding and working with the investigation by donating their DNA. 121 had already participated with several more saying they would comply with the request for DNA swabs. Just a few refused or the police were not able to locate them (moved away most likely).
In the end the killer, who was of Turkish origin (this was found in the DNA on the body of Milica and from a witness statement), refused to donate DNA but one of his family members did donate a cheek swab and this lead to the arrest of the suspect. When he was arrested he now was forced to donate his DNA (a judge approved this) and his DNA matched the killers/rapists DNA 100%.
Now that the perpetrator was found, all the DNA material collected and the results of the DNA testing will be destroyed and not kept in any way shape or form.
