Debt Company Makes Sheriffs Rich by Jailing the Poor, Lawsuit Claims

Here's the most troubling part for me; from court clerk:
“We have an order from Supreme Court Chief Justice Steven Taylor directing all of the district courts to participate immediately in the program,” she said."
"Kissinger said the court clerk’s office chose to become part of the statewide collection effort shortly after Jan. 1, but it’s no longer an option."

Well no wonder you're confused, you only highlighted the part of the definition you agreed with.

 after this rebuttal, you can add me to the confusion list.

Yeah I did - it was a correlation/causation fallacy which endlessly invoked "blacks disproportionately affected."

That blacks are most Ferguson residents and are the poorest doesn't equal proof of racial targeting.

It's not uncommon for cities to try make up money by raking in bull**** fines and charging ridiculously for parking or traffic tickets. My city does it.

There you go working on assumption without even bothering to look up what was in the report. That's the problem I see with so many conservatives - they go with their assumptions, but refuse to challenge their assumptions by taking a close and objective look at the other side of the story. You believe what you want to believe...without ever really challenging your belief. And before you think that liberals are the same way, I used to be a strong conservative - I happily voted for Reagan and Bush 41...but I was also watching with real concern the rise of the pundits and Religious Right...both of which became kingmakers among the GOP and conservatism as a whole. American conservatism has generally decided to go with dogma over scientific and historical fact...which made it much easier for y'all to willingly elect (and to continue to heartily support) a guy who wouldn't know honesty if it bit him in the ass.

Actually I did look it up which is why I wrote what I did.

Did you read the report on the Michael Brown shooting, how no credible witnesses said the cop was the aggressor, how "hands up don't shoot" didn't happen and how the single person that the claim came from fully recanted his claim?

Going on a long-winded whine of confirmation bias and hurling stereotypes at me isn't a rebuttal of what I said.

You're talking to a former radical leftist; to say I'm "closed-minded" is laughable.

Yeah I get it - you dislike conservatives and religious conservatives and alleged "dogma over science." Who cares? Trying to lump me in with this monolith you hate is not a rebuttal of what I said.

Why not post actual quotes from the Ferguson report that validate your position like an adult would?

The dogma over fact here is when people claim a money-making scheme by a municipality was "racist" because blacks were more affected due to their being most of the population and being poorer. The Ferguson report was a political ploy by Obama's DOJ to off-set the Michael Brown report which fully exonerated Officer Wilson.

You need more evidence than correlation/causation. Do you even know what a correlation equals causation fallacy is? Clearly not, as you would have spotted it already.

By the way, do us all a favor and make your posts easier to read by eliminating the run-on sentences and atrocious grammar and punctuation.

This was in essence the ruse in Ferguson; using the "legal" system as an extortion racket.

Lots of cities place huge fines on things as does the one I live in, but the one I live in currently has a black mayor and whites are only about 52% of the population, so it seems OK to do in those circumstances.

Liberals are always about increasing taxes, but what they really mean is that only on white people, because otherwise dat raciss.

How about a list of twelve quotes from the report? Read them, and then get back to me about what wonderful public servants the police and courts were.

That is bizarre. This isn't going to make big waves in the media as most Oklahomans are the wrong color.

It's not going to make waves in the media because it could upset the status quo, and the last thing the mainstream media wants is to upset the status quo.

And it goes really well with asset forfeiture. One of the AG's favorite tools. So you did the have money to pay your bail, etc, when we arrested you, but we took it to buy a new big screen for the conference room. So back to jail with you.
