Female Georgia police officer shot and killed in 'ambush', 2 suspects in custody | Fox News
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Seth Brandon Spangler, was arrested nearly four hours after the shooting. Authorities said Spangler was not wearing any clothes when taken into custody.
Hearne is survived by her parents, her husband and her 3-year-old son. She was a five-year veteran of the Polk County Police Department.

so sad. It looks like the mope premeditated the murder of the cop.

There's pretty much nothing to say about this. I'm assuming that the shooter and his sidekick were associated with the car but an ambush is hard to pick up before it happens. From the looks of the perp he's no stranger to prison.

Leaves a three year old with no mother and for what? The guy had a parole violation and it's not like killing a couple of cops was going to help that situation. If he really didn't want to go back to the slam he could have at least done the decent thing and blown his own brains out.

probably a guaranteed lethal injection down there. If the woman was part of the ambush, she could get the dirt nap too

Yeah. Eventually. Until then, though, it's taxpayer funded legal team, 20 years before he's done with appeals and even with all that it doesn't bring the kid's mommy home. People that do this kind of thing are beyond redemption in this world and I'm kind of inclined to doing what it takes to hasten his judgement in the afterlife.
 
This doesn't sound like a premeditated ambush at all.

It seems more like the couple came out of the woods, got surprised, and tried to avoid apprehension.

I'm surely not going to defend cop killers, but I'm not so sure of the Fox News characterization of the incident.

Also I'm a bit surprised the coppers let these guys get the drop on them, after finding out the car was stolen.

Regardless, my condolences. Anytime a cop get's killed, we all as members of society lose too.

A terrible story. Another police officer killed in the line of duty. Hope the shooter gets what he deserves.
Apparently detectives with the dept only wear vests when on high risk incidents?

Detective Hearne was in plain clothes and not wearing a bullet-proof vest at the time of the shooting. Chief Dodd said the Goodrich was on scene for quite some time alone before Hearne arrived and there was not a clear need for a vest.

"It’s not common for investigators to wear a vest all the time," said the chief said during a press conference Friday afternoon.
