In an affidavit that reads like gothic fiction, investigators describe how a teen reunited with her birth mother last year on an isolated farm in Missouri — only to be tortured there, forced to crawl through hog pens and have salt rubbed in her wounds, and then finally murdered last month and burned in a fire pit.

Rebecca Ruud, 39, was arrested Monday by Ozark County sheriff’s deputies and charged, among other crimes, with the first-degree murder of Savannah Leckie, whom she had given up for adoption at birth, 16 years before.

The new husband, Robert Peate Jr., to the best of my knowledge not arrested yet, probably helped cover the murder.

This Rebecca Ruud reads like a horrible person. The Sheriff in her county supports pursuit of the Death Penalty. So do I.

Cases like this are why I strongly support the death penalty. Some people are just five or six feet of stacked crap and the toilet needs to be flushed.

It's so bad, my wife yelled, "Stop!" after I read only a few words of it to her.

Indeed, this is horrible. However, the question is why did she do this to her own daughter? What are her motives? The human mind can sometimes be so absurd.

:agree: That woman must have hated the man who impregnated her, since she gave the child up at birth, which might mean she was raped, but if that is the case, why take it out on the child since she had nothing to do with it! That is so disgustingly wrong!

RIP little one! Justice will be served on earth, which is all we can do, but trust that if there is Karma, your killer will have earned whatever happens to her, and you will have had nothing to do with that either.

That wasn't my take--the hate the baby daddy thing.

This horrible story read to me more like a case where the teenager was being a--you know--teenager. She was kicked out of her adopted home for not following rules. And, when she moved in with the birth mom, birth mom simply had no skills on how to handle an unruly teen in a responsible way. So, she resorted to extreme violence and torture, probably leading to an accidental death.

Mental problems are probably also in play here. My guess is birth mom is bipolar or something.

More likely the mom is tied to some ****ed up secret ****ed up ****. The boyfriend is probably in on it. Once the mom introduced her to her lifestyle, the mom and her friends knew the daughter would never click. The daughter probably judged her and her ****ed up lifestyle. Just a guess.

The daughter probably could have over powered the mom in a physical altercation if it came down too it so it really increases the chance that some dude was there too.

She seems mentally rather unbalance, doesn't she.

Hi Polgara. Your explanation sounds like it might have some truth to it. The horror this simply makes you question the humanity of some that pretend to be people.

It certainly does have the undertones of sexual sadism. But, without a body, it will be difficult to prove cause of death. Right now, the ex-boyfriend is talking. So, that may be helpful but potentially self serving.

Maybe the cops can find a video or a diary or something which incriminates. Because as I see it, right now, birth mom can claim anything she wants, including that the kid committed suicide. Proving otherwise will be very difficult absent other evidence.

When I read the title it seemed to me that the daughter killed the mother. Then I read the Op and got really confused as the person arrested was 39 and she had given up the kid 16 years ago which would have put the kid at 23.

Now I see the mother killed the daughter and that makes more sense.

All organs are susceptible to malfunction. But when the brain malfunctions things can go really, really bad. A faulty heart can kill the heart's owner. A faulty brain can take down others.

I'm 51 and an ex-cop and I still can't explain it.

Perhaps mental health problems by both mother and daughter drove them to demented behavior?

I turn 61 tomorrow... and have fathered four daughters, two (now adults) from a 1st wife, one (now 11) from a former mistress and one (now 6) from my current wife. I anticipate and hope to always have enough love, compassion, commonsense and proactive ability to avoid instigating or direct involvement in any similar tragedy.

A mother in Manatee County Fl, where I own a home, accepted a 65 year plea this summer for killing one of her preteen daughters. God help these people!

Emotionally she wasn't her daughter apparently.
