Keishanna Thomas had faced life in prison for murdering her 11 year old daughter in 2015, then stuffing the child's body in a freezer.

Child Protection Services, Department of Children and Families (DCF), Children's Legal Services, Guardian Ad Litem, Family Law Judges and the State Attorney in Manatee County Florida refuse to own their blatant negligence.

And the double whammy?

"The 65-year sentence effectively places Keishanna Thomas away from the rest of Manatee County and particularly children for the rest of her life,” said prosecutor Arthur Brown.

Her other children have now been living with a cousin."

Recently, I've been a number of these kinds of stories, where they lock a child in a freezer, plastic box, whatever, and leave them there to die. WTF is wrong with people? Heartless, scumbag, monsters to be able to do that to a child and in this case, her own child. There is no mention of the possibility of parole, but I wonder.

The one I read the other day placed the girl's cousin on death row for putting her in small plastic box to die for stealing an ice pop. The monster in the OP deserved it as well.

I can't say that I'm really a proponent of the death penalty in general, but in these kinds of cases, absolutely.

1 question, as always.

Where was the father?

1 question, as always.

Where was the father?

I don't think this situation would have ended differently, and there's no evidence that the father was not there in the first place or if he's even alive at all.

Mental depravity or mental illness that allows people to commit such heinous acts are not usually affected by the presence of others in the lives of the monstrous murderer.

The white woman in SC, Susan Smith, that drowned her kids by driving them into a lake was "happily" married and didn't divorce until a year after the murders. The white woman from Houston, Andrea Yates, that drowned her five kids in a bathtub was married and didn't get divorced until 3 years after the murders.

He's not mentioned in the article. The other children are living with a cousin. The father isn't there. This happens far too often in fatherless homes.

Take a look at the history of these cases and you'll notice how frequently there is no father involved.

I'm not saying it's impossible, I'm just saying that whenever you see these stories, about 9 times out of 10 there is no father in the home.

Janiya, the 11 year old victim, would routinely soil her pants. Keishanna, the child's mother, would punish Janiya by locking her in the bathroom for hours and days at a time. Keishanna worked at a Bradenton FL Walmart. I believe Keishanna beat Janiya to death before placing her in the freezer. Keishanna took Janiya's grossly underweight body and contorted it to fit into a small box, placing the box in the freezer wrapped and secured with a chain and padlock.

This gruesome murder went undiscovered for more than a year. The callous heartlessness of the mother astounds me! During the time Janiya's body went undiscovered, Child Protection Services made scant effort to locate her, content to rely on the mother's lies.

I showed you that isn't accurate regarding murder of children by their mothers. What cases are you referring to, exactly?

I asked for you to supply data. A description of your perceived observations don't count any more as proof of fact than my own do, hence I gave you two examples to the contrary.

...

This happens far too frequently, and an absence of stable homes with fathers is absolutely a contributing factor.

I disagree in this instance, murder of children by their mother, as I said earlier. Prove your statement. Show the data.

I simply cannot Like this post. But thank you for posting it. Reminding us of state negligence and un- or under- treated mental illness. And giving us an opportunity to mourn a little girl. So sad.

He may not even be alive.

I know it's a nice sentiment, but he's more likely either a deadbeat or in prison.

A few cases to the contrary doesn't disprove the point that this often happens in fatherless homes.

I referenced the young victim, 11 year old Janiya, in a 2015 letter to the elected State Attorney, Ed Brodsky, in an effort to raise awareness of child abuse. Neither he nor any of his staff answered my letter.

I lost track of the fact that she was already dead before she was placed in the freezer. I'm just bereft at the number of incidents I've seen on the internet. I'm not even reading the stories, just the headlines and that's enough. It's heartbreaking.

There is a certain devaluing of human life which has been at play for a number of decades now, in many, many different ways, and I don't think the increasing frequency of this kind of thing is unrelated.

MHMR, MHDD, and CPS are underfunded and therefore understaffed, and burnout is high. In the org my sister's working for, which is state-supported but privately run and which provides the only mental health services for 13 counties and their little clinics, nobody has had a raise in ten years. Raises don't happen. Pay is low, stress is high, and burnout is quick. Because of budget cuts, it's decided to cut its early childhood intervention services. Makes me sick. For all the bazillions of dollars wasted on, for example, how long to dunk an Oreo, only lip service is paid to "the least of the brethren," including little kids. Here's another story that I quickly found. Two children, two different fathers, neither had seen their children for years.

Even more frequently it's the father that commits filicide....

It may as well be a death sentence. Child killers and child rapists have a fairly short life expectancy in prison.

Which makes sense since the father has less of an innate sense to care for children. Still 10% of those cases were stepfathers. I'm surprised that it wasn't higher, but then again there weren't many stepfathers in the 1970's, which is when the study started.

Still....the stats don't support your claim that mothers commit filicide more than fathers.

Do not attribute heartless statements like that to any post I make. If you wish to state such hateful evil things, then do so without using me as cover for the hatred.

You made the claim - you prove it. Trying to disprove my disagreement doesn't prove your position.

That wasn't my claim.

Why are you bringing race into this??
