This happens far too frequently, and an absence of stable homes with fathers is absolutely a contributing factor.

There were two insinuations throughout his posts in this thread, 1) that when this happens in the black community its because there's always a single mother involved and no father present, and 2) that because of the first, it proves that women will kill their own children without the father present to prevent it from happening.

What I alluded to was a problem of family breakdown, not that mothers would more often do this than fathers. In fact, I would suspect that it's typically the father. I'm actually surprised by how often it is the mother.

Having both parents in the home would tend to prevent this sort of thing from happening.

What does that have to do with race? By "as always" I meant in cases of intra-family violence.

There is a HUGE problem with single mothers in the African American communities... You would think that mothers and grandmothers would be teaching their daughters better but the problem just goes on and on...

Fifty-seven percent of recent mothers without a high school diploma were unmarried compared to nine percent of recent mothers with a bachelors degree or higher.

The data shows that it's mostly whites that commit filicide....and that they were married at the time...

If I messed up, I apologize. What you said just fit the normal phraseology of pointing out the epidemic of absentee fathers in the black community. I never said you were being racist, just that it looked like you were narrowing your comments to the black community and their problem with absentee fathers, which is, in fact, a major problem and the root of a hell of a lot of the problems in the black community as a whole.

I wasn't saying otherwise Bodhi, regarding the real problem with absentee fathers in the black community. I was, however, saying that I haven't seen evidence that absentee fathers, in any racial group, are a cause or increase the likelihood of the single mothers killing their own children.

I hate to say this, but they're not going to do anything, because very little can be done. Of course this story is from Bradenton. I used to call it the armpit of FL.

Bottom line is, despite the rejection of his theory, phattonez is correct. FL has a lotta hood rats, none of whom can be bothered to lift a finger to help their own situation, and that makes life cheap. Third world country cheap. And that's how crap like this happens. And there's not a lot you can do about it, really.
 
It a sad story for sure but it never should have happened.

This mother has a rap sheet of abusing her kids to being arrested for prostitution. The eleven year old she murdered the police department had a report that she abused that baby before she was even a year old. There's another report that she beat her son that got caught shoplifting at the Walmart she worked at. He told the police she beat him in the face and on the head and threw him against the mirror. They found the shattered mirror. All this happened years before she killed the eleven year old and stuffed her in a freezer then shipped the freezer to her mother's home. Those kids should have been removed from that home years ago. Heck that doesn't even qualify being classified as a home, that is Hell.

There are also reports where she sought to collect child support from a couple of the fathers of her 5 children. And there is no evidence that any father figure was in the "home".

I think we have reached a point where states need to provide adequate safe havens for children against abusive parents whether temporary or long term. It is time to revive orphanages and stop the ideological thinking that even if abuse is present that a child is best to be left with the family he/she belongs. That's a lie that needs defeated and put to rest.

I highly doubt these specific types of crimes have anything to do with the devaluing of human life. Some people are just mentally sick.

Wrong. I did not say or indicate that it was ONLY a huge problem for blacks.


Any person that does not understand that it IS a problem for blacks is living under a rock though.

64% of Black mothers are single mothers... as opposed to FAR LESS percentages by whites, 30%, Hispanic 40% and Asians 16%

Her sentence should have been more severe than life but (a lot) less than 65 years.
