he frequent social media presence opted not to testify in his own defense, avoiding being questioned by prosecutors. However, he vented against the Department of Justice in a Facebook posting Thursday that referred to President Trump and his campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again."

"My case is a silly witch hunt perpetrated by self-serving prosecutors. Thankfully my amazing attorney sent them back to junior varsity where they belong," wrote Shkreli. "Drain the swamp. Drain the sewer that is the DOJ. MAGA."

I definitely see this as a witch hunt as well. The DOJ is overreaching. They are trying to prosecute him for Daraprim, which is another silly story because Shkreli was just being a capitalist and looking to make a modest profit.

Shkreli is proving the government is run by imbeciles.

Interesting case. If they find him guilty hell take it to appeal and it will drag out at his price.

Assuming he bought the rights legally he can charge what he wants. If it was so important, why didn't Obamacare buy it and/or force him to allow a generic. Obama flapped his gums but didn't do anything.

I believe they did the same thing with Minoxidil and Nicotine parches to allow genetics early. So there is a way.

Have not followed but this guy is creepy and is one of the 100 most hated men in America.

The Mounties should get their man.

If the courts were still about law...

But they aint.

I like his moxie.

Shkreli, who is on trial for securities fraud, boasted Thursday night on Facebook that if he gets acquitted he will get to have sex with a female journalist — the same woman whose earlier harassment by the "pharma bro" got him banned from Twitter.

:lamo

The female reporter is a nut bar. He completely owned her.

My my, what an injustice.

NEW YORK (AP) — Martin Shkreli, the eccentric former pharmaceutical CEO notorious for a price-gouging scandal and for his snide "Pharma Bro" persona on social media, was convicted Friday on federal charges he deceived investors in a pair of failed hedge funds.

A Brooklyn jury deliberated five days before finding Shkreli guilty on three of eight counts. He had been charged with securities fraud, conspiracy to commit securities fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Shkreli, upbeat and defiant outside court afterward, called his prosecution "a witch hunt of epic proportions" but conceded that maybe the government had found "one or two broomsticks."

First of all, Shrek was convicted on 3 out of 8 charges earlier today. He could be facing 20 years in jail.

Second, if you read up on it, you'll see the case was all about an earlier hedge fund he ran into the ground. He told his clients that it was doing well, and sent them fraudulent statements, even as its accounts were empty. He then embezzled money from another business to pay the hedge fund clients.

It is possible that his later behavior brought him to the attention of the DoJ, and his behavior in court may have contributed to his conviction -- e.g. reading a book while the prosecutor is giving his closing statement was exceptionally stupid. Ultimately though this case was based solely on his own behavior, notably fraud and embezzlement.

He wont see any jail time.

He won't get 20 years, but chances are he'll see some jail time. Last I checked, smirking, reading a book whilst in court, and livestreaming criticism of the case hours after being found guilty usually undermine any claims of repentance.

He's rich, nothing will happen. But he certainly is unscrupulous and immoral, but pretty much that can be said of most Big Pharma and their government backed monopoly.

That was my first thought. Scumbag does illegal things that normally he might have gotten away with....but then the spotlight is on him because of his massive douche move to horrendously raise the price of a lifesaving drug.

Karma is a bitch.

But he will probably weasel out of jail time.
