CANTON - It was a typical work day for Canton police officer Jones Jr. He was patrolling I-77 south when he noticed a truck speeding down the highway with the headlights out. He pulled the driver over and gave her a ticket. But just a few hours later the Canton Police Department's Facebook page had a new review from the woman’s husband stating. ”Watch for Jones Jr.. badge number 157. Was a jerk to my wife and must have needed to make quota she was driving and didn’t know her lights weren’t on he treated her like trash and was disrespectful. Watch out for this Guy.”
Canton Police quickly responded by posting bodycam video of the traffic stop… YOU BE THE JUDGE

I wonder what the husband had to say after he saw the footage.

I would bet the wife told him something that got him worked up over nothing.

Damage done the husband can go about his daily routine.

Ill skip the easy media comparison. Its low hanging fruit anyway.

Good for the department for posting this.

It not only exposes them for being liars but also that when they make those type of claims it just makes it harder for people who actually had an issue to be heard.

Yep. These kinds of people who lie about this kinda stuff are the worst.

Body cams are good tech and should be used by all police forces and most security.

A very professional and well executed traffic stop. The officer did his job well. Good job, sir!

Cheers.

The question is:

Did the wife lie to the husband when she got home? And why?

Or, did the husband just go off on his own tangent? And why?

Either way - the cop was perfectly professional, in every way.

Awesome! Just another reason why body cams should be mandatory. They help protect the police as well as the public.

I wonder if a slander case can be made?

I don't see how. In order to be slander (libel in this case since it was in writing) the person making the claim has to know it is a falsehood. It could be argued the husband believed his wife and therefore didn't know it was a lie. And I can't imagine the wife could be sued for lying to her husband, especially if it couldn't be proven she knew her husband would make a public post about it.

I think the humiliation will have to be punishment enough. :)

Excellent!

This is exactly what body cams are supposed to do: Provide video proof!

And the cynic in me believes, that cops and civilians knowing they're being video taped can't help but behave a little bit nicer in their interactions!

I'm with you ... liars are the worst and should exposed as such and not protected ... especially if they have taken an oath to serve and protect while taking Tax Payers Money.

Three Chicago police officers charged with conspiring to cover up Laquan McDonald shooting

The indictment makes clear that these defendants did more than merely obey an unofficial ‘code of silence,’ rather it alleges that they lied about what occurred to prevent independent criminal investigators from learning the truth,”

Obviously the chicks lying ways are catching up with her thanks to this very brave boyfriend. The cop is cool. The boyfriend is cool. The girl is a drama fuming douchebag.

Shes prolly one of those types that runs to her boyfriend and explains how creepy someone is over 3 seconds of eye contact. And the poor guy ends up feeling useful and protective all over her psycho-drama.

The seed is planted now. Dude will be constantly wondering if his wife is bull****ting him or not. She just ate a big fat karma burger.

three things .............

1. the woman driving the van is STUPID; there is NO EXCUSE for driving after dark with your headlights off

2. the woman's husband is a ****ing idiot

3. cop should have ALSO issued a ticket for speeding

When body-cam footage makes the police look better the video gets released in a matter of days. When the footage makes the police look bad it can take over a year to get the video.

how true, how true ........

LE for a Twin Cities suburb shot & killed two motorist a few years ago

There was 'dash cam' footage of the shooting but police REFUSED to release the video, even after an attorney for one of the two that were shot & killed by police had viewed the video

not anti cop here ............... I am anti ****ty cop & there are waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many out there doing BAD THINGS ...........

Bennett’s suit claimed that a statement by BCA Special Agent-in-Charge Scott Mueller to the medical examiner at the scene, saying that Pfister “ran over to Serbus, grabbed the knife and then began advancing toward officers with it,” was a “complete fabrication” and “provably false” from the video.

officer statements to BCA were proven under deposition to be LIES ............... SO, THE COP GOT AWAY WITH MURDER ............. but the city paid $1.75 million

In the past I've had white Milwaukee cops (I'm brown) pull me over. One instance is great example. I was sooo intoxicated I knew I could not pass a sobriety test. It was night. I ran through 2 red light. I had expired license plates. Expired driver's license. And my back lights were out.

The cop got out the paddywagon and when he approached my window he said, "Now, we let you run through on red light but you had to run through a second red light. Where are you in such a rush to get too?" I had just left a night club with my friend who was in the passenger's seat. I responded to the cop, "I'm trying to get to another club on the other side of town."

He took my license to run it through the system

He returned back to my window and and handed back my ID because I had no warrants for my arrest out. He let me go. No ticket, no nothing.

Seems to me the cop in the video of post #1 was acting with mercy. He made a judgment call (right or wrong to some) rather than act as only a robot for the local government.

I have to say... most my experiences with police have been good. Most of them seem to be just regular people doing a not-so regular job. They have wives, kids, bills, desires, and other things that every other person does.

I have had a few, a few negative experiences with cops. But that's kind of like my experience with Catholic Priests. I've only had a few negative experiences with them. That could be because I'm fortunate. Actually, I'm sure that is true on some level. Nonetheless, I think that I speak to these people like they are just human beings, but also I respect their authority (albeit, once or thrice I did get "out of order" with some police, but in two of the cases I was overly intoxicated).
