Reginald Mitchell, 46 year old St. Petersburg FL policeman and a 22 year veteran on the force, allegedly used his own vehicle while off duty to pick up a known prostitute named Amanda McLaughlin, age 32. I believe evidence includes the testimony of an on-duty policeman observing the performance of a sex act.

The incident has led to a misdemeanor charge against Reginald and a felony charge against Amanda.

How do you see this playing out? Does he plea? Does she plea? Does the State Attorney offer her a deal to testify against him? Does he keep his job?
I predict the State Attorney offers her a no-jail time deal in exchange for her testimony. Reginald agrees to resign the force, takes a lesser charge pleaReginaldMitchell.jpgAmandaMcLaughlin.jpg and pays a fine.

INB4 we need more "Information" ...;)

Oh wait, we don't need on stinking information.

Personally I think prostitution should be made legal. No reason that we should be telling people not to have sex for money. As such both of these people should be let go.

He picked her up in his personal vehicle. He was not on duty. He has never been charged with a crime before, much less convicted. The charge for what he did is a misdemeanor. The following statement says what we, the court, and the police department should focus on:

"Mitchell’s personnel file has one negative entry in his 22-year career. He had lost a USB flash drive. Otherwise, his file is filled with ‘thank you’ notes from citizens."

I don't see why he should be treated any different than any other citizen by the court. In the court he should be given community service or more likely, a PJC.

In his job, it all depends on if he has an employment contract or not, or if there are standing rules to which he signed that cover such a misdemeanor offense. Lacking those, he should be given a warning based on his spotless record and put back out on the street, with the knowledge that if he does anything else illegal he will be removed immediately from the force.

IMHO that is.

I have to agree, if two consenting Adult agree to have Sex for a price ... what's the big deal?

Spending Money, Engagement Ring, Cars, House, Furniture, Job ... what's the difference?

'Trying to pick up a prostitute...'
Something fishy about this. More to the story, I'm sure. He has a sterling record but I wonder if he pissed somebody off. Don't cops often give a pass to other cops on bull**** charges like this?

she gets a felony charge
for giving it up to the police chief
what could possibly be wrong with that

It seems to me the incident amounts to an obvious waste of tax payer money. Who did the sting protect? Who can point out the victims for us?

the woman now charged with a felony for complying with the expectations of the police chief

You appear to have posted under a misconception. The policeman charged in this incident does not hold title as Chief. The Chief has a "Chris Christie Blow Jobs Exemption" clause in his employment contract. If you want one of those, you have to hold title as Chief.

This and all prostitution cases (laws) are an example of the supposedly secular government enforcing religious rules and culture. Pure foolishness causing several social pathologies. Our Judeo Christian Heritage causes harm to society.

Let them both go and stop wasting tax dollars on this vice-crime nonsense.

Enforcing vice-crime laws is just a little too Sharia for my taste.
