Artist Murdered in DC Apartment, Suspect Arrested Driving Her Car

like I said and as illustrated here in your answer we have a completely different understanding of mental illness

as for evil that is a man made construct...it is relative

IMO, we should reserve the distinction of mental illness for people who aren't predators. Otherwise, what's to stop Dick Cheney from being declared mentally ill? See what I mean?

Insanity defenses often don't fare well in court. Evidence that the defendant acted with a purpose and a plan--that he knew what he was doing--undercuts the argument that he was insane when he committed the criminal act.

hm, no, I don't really don't see what you mean, but I am curious

a serial killer is mentally ill...they are psychopaths or sociopaths...they lack the ability to empathize and certain psychos although not all have the urge to kill and act upon it

within that group are "organized and disorganized"

they are NOT "normal"

there is much debate about whether or not it is neurological...

there are many people who are psychopaths who do not kill....they run corporations...they are highly successful because of their lack of ability to empathize...they can make hard decisions always placing the corporatation first not because they value the corporation but because they value themselves and the position they are in

Oh great, now he is not only to take life from the US. Now he is going to be a financial draw on the state.

To the tune of 35k to 134k a year, depending on where he is locked up.

This is why I support the Texas work farm style of prison for lifers. For one, I'd rather be executed than work 10 hour days in 120 degree heat in the middle of a Swamp, for the rest of my life. Those farms are largely self sustaining. And they are built 40-50 miles away from everyone else. Don't need to build fences when there's 50 miles of gators, snakes, and all manner of death in between you and freedom.

And I also like the idea of people regularly trying to escape, only to find a pack of blood hounds and ornery armed Texans hunting them on their own turf.

Not to worry, we are profiteering from bondage again with for profit prisons, convict leasing, and stocks traded on Wall Street. It is our jobs comin' back to america program in a post-industrial society.

Say what you want about Texans, but they enjoy the personal touch to their penal systems. They've spent decades perfecting the proper way to crush a man's soul. If soul crushing prisons were art, they would be Van Gogh. A Texas work farm prison isn't a for profit prison. It's Texas masterpiece. They are self sustaining, and can generate income for the state. They are low maintenance. Never short on guards, working at one is Nirvana for the average Texan who dreams of hunting a man. And just about every prisoner wishes for death. But yet can't summon the energy to kill themselves after a day of doing hard labor under the Texas sun.

I hate the death penalty, because the only people who get it, are the people who death is to good for. They deserve to spend their life on a Texas work farm. A fate worse than death. That's my opinion.

Psychopaths are not out of touch with reality, quite the contrary. Which is why I don't believe they're mentally ill.

The term 'mentally ill' describes someone who suffers, correct? 50% of that term is 'ill' meaning 'sick'. How are psychopaths suffering if they inflict abuse on others, but rarely pay for that abuse? The psychopath CEO doesn't suffer, he makes other people suffer. The psychopath serial killer doesn't suffer either, unless he makes a mistake and gets caught, and still then he doesn't suffer much as he's usually equipped to deal with living in prison.

Many psychopathic serial killers were well liked, some have even been rich or started successful companies. They give off none of the usual clues of mental illness. Lumping them in with a schizophrenic person who lives in poverty and confusion just isn't right in my opinion.

Yeah that place sounds just fine a sentence, though I do remember there are several other prisons that do similar things. But they are still few, and far between.
