A man arrested in the stabbing death of an artist who was found tied up in her basement apartment on Capitol Hill did not know the victim, according to D.C. police, while court documents suggest she may have been targeted in a robbery.

The suspect, El Hadji Alpha Madiou Toure, 28, was apprehended Monday.

Toure was charged in the District with first-degree murder while armed and theft in the death of Corrina Mehiel, 34.

The affidavit describes a gruesome scene inside the house. Mehiel had been stabbed in the neck and repeatedly in the body, and a detective wrote that the number of wounds and their severity “suggest some sort of torture had been done to the decedent.” Police also said the victim had defensive wounds on her left hand and palm indicating a struggle.

Such a tragic story, Mehiel was an artist who was well thought of, and didn't have any enemies. RIP to Corinna Mehiel. I hope gets El Hadji gets life in prison.

El Hadji Alpha Madiou. Very "alpha" to kill a defenseless woman like this.

I think he's going to be turned into a beta very soon. Like when his cell mate is a 300 pound dude on steroids.

Can the judge just not have him taken out back, and shot?
I honestly think this man isn't worth a trial.

I'd much rather that he received capital punishment. But knowing Washington D.C., life in prison is as severe of a sentence we can realistically hope for.

Oh great, now he is not only to take life from the US. Now he is going to be a financial draw on the state.

To the tune of 35k to 134k a year, depending on where he is locked up.

No, because we do not live in a Sharia rules country nor do we live in the "good old days" when people where lynched by mobs. In the Western world we know the concept of prison sentences handed down by judges, not mob rule by lynch mobs.

I'm not saying mob rule by lynch mobs, because that was usually against someone who didn't deserve it at all.

I am talking about just getting rid of someone who is a total monster, and that I am completely okay with capital punishment in that regard.

Well, who is going to take him out and shoot him? Because mostly that attracts a crowd who want to see the bastard gets what he deserves.

And who says he is a total monster, he may have mental issues/hear voices/never got the medication his mental illness prescribes because there is no affordable health care, etc. etc. etc.

And real monsters you lock up for life, you do not reward them with an early out.

But being locked up for life makes him a financial draw on the country as a whole, and when compounded with how many are serving that same sentence now. It turns out to be a rather massive number.

Hell give me the gun, I'll take him out to the desert, after he's had his last meal or whatever "last something" that we can feasibly give him, and do the deed. If he has medical issues, then its his choice to stay on them, and with the amount of loopholes people abuse in this country to get their fix. Its rather uncommon for him to go without, or people usually sell the medication they get in return for a quick fix.

Its rather horrible I know, but such a person would normally serve the public better by not being a part of it anymore, and in a country that's already #1 in the world for adult incarcerations. I believe we don't really need more of a reason to be holding that position as is.

Well, that is a highly debatable claim that it is cheaper to kill than to imprison for life.

First, with all the court costs, death penalty cases are much much more expensive than non death penalty cases. Locking people up in death row costs much more than regular jail costs and they sit in death row for many many years (often). And that is even without the cost of all the appeal and appeal and appeal.

Secondly, the risk of an innocent man being put to death is unacceptable.

Thirdly, we do not live in China, North Korea, Iran, or any other backward country where people are executed at the drop of a hat.

I know, about that. I cannot remember his name but he was caught on a double murder charge in 09, and when asked if he wanted to make a plea deal to get life in prison. He aptly said that he would take death row, seeing as he would most likely live longer.

I am merely saying that we need a more reliable fast track for proven murderers, to be taken out of the system permanently.

I am tired of seeing the headline along the lines of _triple homicide trial over - life in prison_ and then have that jackass will have three meals a day & a warm bed for the rest of his life. When we have children on the streets who can go up to a week without an actual meal.

New York rated around 167k per inmate a year, and that was in 2013.

That is what you get when you lock up minor criminals for decades and think that it is justice served, it ain't IMHO. If you would stop locking up everybody for enormous numbers of years, you would not have such a prison system gone wild. And in a big city the cost of being "in the city" makes a jail a lot more expensive than if it were near Albany NY or so.

Oh, look. Truth found another "black guy kills white girl" picture to post. Would you do the same if it was "white guy kills his estranged wife"?

If so, you should point me to this thread where you are on such a crusade.

Yeah that would be the whole war on drugs fault, so I must give it to you on that one.

False Peter. Research the case and you see that the killer here is evil, not mentally I'll;

El Hadji tortured Corinna Mehiel for the pin number to her ATM card. After she told him the number, he savagely killed her, drove away in her car, and withdrew a total of $4,000 from Mehiel's bank account.

Mehiel was politically active in the SJW scene, and posted on Facebook about how she felt Trump was a menace to minority men. Here's Mehiel walking with Nancy Pelosi:

Despite Mehiel's concern for minorities, a minority man killed her anyway for her possessions. The killer is evil, not mentally ill.

I would. After I was 100% positive he was the perp. Driving her car would be a start in that direction,

I say this type are monsters. I'm not at all interested in why he's a monster.

How does your foot taste? You should know since you put it in your mouth at least once a day on DP.

Gee, you didn't comment on my thread about 2 vicious white criminals. I wonder why?

Even mentally ill people can be evil, also I said "may" not "was".

Well, great, you have the attitude Jihadist have when it comes to justice.

We live in the civilized West, not in the uncivilized backward part of our planet.

We have a for profit prison system complete with convict leasing, we've returned to profiteering from bondage, it's a growth industry with stocks traded on Wall Street. The system can turn $40-50K per year per hominid, and we've nave had any compunction about putting the innocent to death. That’s just who we are as a society. We are the leader of the incarceration world.

Which is why I am an absolute enemy of for profit prisons, only government run jails should be allowed, no commercial company should have anything to do with housing/guarding/treating prisoners. We as a government/society choose to imprison people and we cannot give the imprisoning of these people into the hands of commercial companies.

And the US would not need commercial prisons if not for the stupid war on drug users.

The pilot program for this **** was rolled out in TN with CCA when now senator Lamar Alexander was governor. He and his sweet wife Honey Alexander had stock in CCA at the time. THAT'S america.
