This is simply amazing.

California judge sentences man who raped sister to probation, citing "stigma" - CNN.com

A 20-year-old California man who pleaded guilty to raping his drugged younger sister was granted probation and is expected to serve just four months in jail, a sentence that the prosecutor says is worse than that given to Stanford swimmer Brock Turner.

The convicted man, of Crescent City, gave his 16-year-old sister high-potency marijuana "dabs" and repeatedly asked her to have sex, according to a criminal complaint. She said no several times until she became so "out of it" that she no longer recognized him as her brother, the complaint states.

Rape your little sister, serve 4 months?

Yet another gets sentenced for years in prison after a jury found him not guilty.

So much for Justice.

Seems pretty flubbed up. Is the family rich? Usually this sort of wrist slap is reserved just for rich folk.

He should certainly be in jail for some time for this. I guess the judge had his reasons.

There is also the value judgement of rape, vs incest, vs coercion, vs drugging her then seducing her. Basically, he got a slap on the wrist for a violent assault which is what rape is.

Crazy stuff happening in commiefornia? Color me surprised.

This is California, mind you. Liberal indoctrination forgives unforgivable things.

The last rape forgiveness case was in Texas. Any comment on that?

what was the defendants side of the story?
Apparently a smirk and a shrug.

Prosecutors had asked for the defendant to receive six years in prison. A probation report said he "showed no real remorse and seemed smug" in his interview and recommended he not receive probation.

When he get's asked, "what are you in here for", I'd love to hear the answer!

It's not like no one was warning about this:

The authors of Proposition 57 claim it only applies to “non-violent” crimes, but their poorly drafted measure deems the following crimes “non-violent” and makes the perpetrators eligible for EARLY PAROLE and RELEASE into local communities:

Rape by intoxication
Rape of an unconscious person
Human Trafficking involving sex act with minors
Drive-by shooting
Assault with a deadly weapon
Hostage taking
Attempting to explode a bomb at a hospital or school
Domestic violence involving trauma
Supplying a firearm to a gang member
Hate crime causing physical injury
Failing to register as a sex offender
Arson
Discharging a firearm on school grounds
Lewd acts against a child 14 or 15
False imprisonment of an elder through violence
*partial list
NO on 57 Ballot Argument - No on 57 - Stop Early Release of Violent Criminals

The Calitardian voters passed prop 57 last November, with 65% voting Yes. This state is actually going to be the first to endorse rape I guess.

That's just...crazy. Another example of the road to hell being paved with good intentions, I am sure.

An idiot certainly.

We've reached an agreement.

Not necessarily. Who appointed him? California has had conservative GOP governors in recent memory.

Superior Court Judges are elected by the people of the county they're running in. Governors only occasionally install a superior court judge in place when one can't fulfill their term.
