Director of the FBI Concealed Carry

Can anyone tell me if the Director of the FBI normally would carry a weapon? If the Director is armed, would he be dis-armed upon meeting with the President? In the same vein, would Dir. be scanned for electronic devises before meeting with CinC?

It's my understanding that the director travels with security so I'd be surprised if he is carrying.

What I'm attempting to establish is that since DC or the WH grounds are single consent as far as recording, would the Dir. be scanned before meeting the POTUS? Maybe Comey carried a recorder into his meetings? What happen to the detail while he is meeting POTUS.

I was reading a piece during the Russians in the Oval stuff and a former White House Staffer said that electronic devices weren't allowed in there. Of course, under trump who knows whats allowed and what isn't.

I believe Trump has a concealed carry. I wonder if the Secret Service allows him to carry in his own presence?


I have no idea what the security protocols are surrounding senior staff and department heads and the President. When the President visits NYC they don't disarm his NYPD escort so I'm assuming that FBI agents, including Comey if he were to carry, which I doubt since he probably gets a protective detail, would be allowed to carry in the President's presence.

Interesting question though. Since everyone pretty much walks around with a pocket recorder in their smart phone I wonder if people have to give up their phones before meeting with the President.

If the Director of the FBI wanted to secretly record a conversation with the President he could do it. Not legally, in the White House, but possible.

Why is it legal for DJT and not the reverse? DC is a one consent jurisdiction as I have been schooled on here.....

The Oval Office is a controlled access area. Only declared, cleared recording devices are permitted.
