That dog is a true hero. They should have a parade there with Lucas as grand marshal.

I have never trained any of my dogs to be (attack, guard) dogs. And they have varied from labs to pits to jacks, mutts and now back to labs. Our calm and quiet basset tried to eat a guy who came through the gate unannounced. I have found that a dog who is naturally made part of a pack, will defend that pack without training to do so. Fine tuning is required, of course, not running into the road, eating the mailman, are also required elements of training.
I am in the 9th month of a new male lab and I have high hopes.

That release button is a good idea.

As much as I like the sentiment... Lucas is just a dog doing what dogs do, protecting a member of it's pack.

Without regard to his own safety, thinking only of rescuing his partner and friend. Yes, that's what man's best friend does. It's too bad more humans aren't more like dogs.
