In February 1993, 27-year-old Lee robbed and strangled 26-year-old Debra Reese in her Jacksonville home. He then beat her 36 times with the same tire thumper her husband gave her for protection.

Her son was only six years old.

"My mother was everything to me," said Joseph Lucky. "When she was ripped from my life, it started a spiral that I almost didn't recover from. My family has lived in the shadow of this event our entire lives."

AR Executions Recap: What Ledell Lee Did to Land on Death Row -

Lee, 51, was administered the lethal injection at 11:44 p.m. local time on Thursday (12:44 a.m. ET). He was pronounced dead 12 minutes later.
His execution was Arkansas' first since 2005. The state had planned to execute eight inmates over 10 days starting April 17, saying its lethal-injection drugs will expire at the end of the month.

Lee actually murdered 2 women before being caught, and raped many more, according to investigators who worked on the case. Here's a picture of the family of one of his victims:

Every mainstream story I've seen, from CNN to NBC to ABC, has barely mentioned the victims in these cases, instead choosing to overtly imply that Ledell Lee's execution was unfair and unjust, and how DARE anyone actually expect him to receive the same punishment he doled in such an animalistic fashion. I fully support the death penalty in cases like Lee's, and know of almost 1,000 inmates in California sitting on death row for similar crimes who should be executed, as per their sentence.

Society punishes at it's own level, not the level of the criminals. That's why the behaviour is labeled 'criminal' in the first place!

Does "Doling out the same punishment in such an animalistic fashion" somehow make us better than him?

Well that's odd. I've seen mainstream stories on those networks and they all mentioned his crime and who the victims were.

What a strange thing.

So, I guess self defense must really piss you off?

Or the latest attack in France?

Self defense is a different story....always has been. We aren't talking about the need to defend oneself. We are talking about a killing for vengance.

What is wrong with vengeance? The turd should have thought about the consequences before he repeatedly bashed in the lady's skull.

He was a evil bastard.

And to be honest.... I don't care what some god has to say about it.

Civilized societies reject killing for vengence. We kill because we HAVE to...not because we WANT to. Sadly...the United States stands with countries such as Iran, North Korea and China....while our civilized allies have evolved. The United States is often slower than most to progress.....but we are moving in the right direction.

Lee apparently murdered his victim by beating her to death with a crowbar. Thus, he is not receiving the same punishment.

you make a sound point and a Judge I know well once noted that "while some people deserve to be fried, I don't believe in giving the government the power to fry people". This is an honorable position that I respect and usually support. However, I wouldn't have any problem letting the victims of the person tortured and murdered from having the choice of say an hour with the defendant followed by a pardon from the government for whatever the family does

I understand the sentiment...but its always why we have a jury system....because we recognize that victims and the family of the victims are not in a a position to make a rational decision free of emotion. I'm not certain that our system accomplishes the goal much better...but there are reasons why we as a society have said that the ones making the decision should be detached from personal involvement.

Tough Talk.....what it has in machismo...it lacks in reason.

Tough Talk.....what it has in machismo...it lacks in reason.

Not tough at all.

Tough **** for the him is more like it, and I hope he had a epiphany on his way "into the light" about how bad it must have been for his victim.

You are the one tossing flowers to murderers, not me.

Your reason is not the only reason, regardless of your self righteousness.

Its not about "self-righteousness" ...its about recognizing that no person, whether the murderer or the government has the right to say when a person should die. Thats not tossing flowers.....its recognizing the arrogance in people trying to play god.

a court and unbiased jurors should decide guilt.

I guess I am a typical uncivilized American who has not yet attained your exquisitely refined sense of morality. As such, I am glad this vile piece of rat filth is no longer with us. There are several thousand more just like him that should be send to join him where it's hot, and the sooner the better.

Yes, and our level is, when you're convicted in a courtroom after having a fair trial and chance for appeal and your execution has to be reasonably humane.

can you please cite your source this convict provided his victims fair trial for a criminal violation, allowed them to appeal, and carried out a reasonably humane execution with sanction of the state?

because otherwise your state is false, these are nowhere near on the same levels.

I'm all for punishment...I simply fail to see how killing someone for killing someone is ever justified. We are not God.

Well because the state has plenary powers to punish criminal offenders, using laws passed by elected legislators, subject to a constitution.

that's the cliff's notes version.

btw, read your Bible sometime, God pretty explicitly gave us the right to execute criminal offenders in Deuteronomy. That is certainly a delegated power.
