Child Sex Trafficking Ring Busted in South Carolina

I don't know anyone over the age of 20 that would consider a 17 year old an adult. At 17 one's world is small and responsibilities are largely academic. At 17, people haven't even finished developing physically. A woman of such age generally has breasts but never hips.

At my ripe old age, 46, I don't consider anyone under 30 an adult. People in their 20s, including myself at that age, don't know their ass from a grenade.
You can enlist in the army at age 17 in the US.

If they were white, would you be defending them so passionately??

That was my first post in this thread and your post had nothing to do with my question to another poster.

You might want to hold your own passion in check.

Sorry, I got you confused with ecofarm... :3oops: The nearly identical race-baiting tactic got me confused...

You think the story should be ignored...because the perpetrators are black? Dood...thats some seriously racially motivated **** you got going on.

The story would be 'better' if the men was either Mexicans or Muslims as Trump had not gone after blacks since he placed an ad in the NY papers claiming that 5 teenage blacks who turn out to be innocent should be put to death for raping a white woman in central park in the year in 1989.

How about the story just being what it is and you try sticking with that rather than trying t drag Trump into it and something from 1989. Trump had nothing to do with a child sex trafficking ring.

And you don't think posting their mugshots in the OP was race baiting? Think "Willy Horton."

Drexel isn't the only teenager who ever did something rebellious, she's just living in a time where it's dangerous to be a woman who is walking down the street alone. Who didn't disobey their parents at some point during their teenage years?

And, now we now exactly why those parents are sometimes a bit anal. Right?

No, I thought that it was posting pics of bad people who had harmed a young girl. I saw "bad people", you saw "black people". Who's the REAL racist here???

You saw the same thing I did....four "bad black men". Without the photo we wouldn't have known the perps were black because the article didn't mention their race. So the only point in posting their pics in the OP was to make sure we all knew they were black.

Although the thread topic is legit, and the pictures are simply showing the facts, there is no question that putting the racial component front and center was intentional. Not that I have a problem with it--but, let's not try to spin it as "nothing to see here."

What does bug me though is the "Child Sex" part of the title. That was straight up bull****.

Not to mention that in 2009 all four of the perps would've been about the same age as the 17 year old victim.

Which begs the question, why did it take the police so long to find them?

Wow, that was a long time ago.

If they were white would the OP have posted their pics?

I have no idea. Maybe your news sources are different, but when I read crime reports, it's pretty standard to post pics of victims and perps.

That doesn't pass the smell test. It's pretty obvious what that OP had in mind here.

Some of these men are suspects in the disappearance and murder of Brittanee Drexel, who was 17 at the time she went missing. No one has been prosecuted as of yet, but law enforcement has spoken about information suggesting that a gang of sex traffickers kidnapped and ultimately killed her, after selling her to men dozens of times.

I really have to leave to you judging another's intent, calamity.

I...kinda actually see where you are coming from on this one. That's weird! Is there something to debate? Is someone going to come on here and be like, "Naw...I think those dudes should be allowed to run a sex trafficking ring."

I'm going to back away before too much agreement happens.

Sounds to me like the discussion revolves around whether their pictures should have been kept secret so that we wouldn't know that they are black.

Were they white, then their pictures still would have been shown, and race wouldn't have been discussed at all.

The relevant point isn't that they're four black dudes. The relevant point is that they're four monsters.

Prove it!! Prove that I saw four "bad BLACK men" and not just four "bad men". Prove that the OP's point in showing their pics was to show that they were black. Not everyone is as focused on racial identity as you are, so stop assuming that everyone else has the same skewed mindset that you and a lot of liberals have. If you want some evidence to back this, just look back through this thread and you'll see that the ONLY people who pointed out their race were liberals. We conservatives saw "bad men", you liberals are the ones who added "black" into the mix.

As I just said to Moot - Prove it!. Liberals are the only ones here making point of the race of these men, not conservatives. Conservatives don't have this hang-up about race that a lot of liberals do. We read the article and see the pics and come to the conclusion that these are bad men, it's liberals who interjected race into the discussion.

Yeah...go ahead play that game. You aint fool'n anyone.

So the point of the OP was to show pictures of 4 bad men to purposefully spark debate about if the script was flipped it would be a big deal? I didn't get that from the OP.

I guess the point of the OP is what people want to make of it. To me...the point SHOULD BE to point out that we have modern day slavery going on throughout the world and yes...right here in the US. The case in the OP is graphic...but its just one of many. Perhaps the value is to be able to begin to actually consider this as a problem.

If people insist on considering race in this issue they might consider who the victims are typically in this tragedy.

I thought the purpose of the OP was to shed light on human trafficking. The race aspect didn't occur to me until after reading subsequent posts.

I still don't see how human trafficking by blacks is any different from human trafficking by whites.
