LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) – A longtime Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent was arrested Wednesday on accusations he helped smuggle a Mexican national with felony convictions into the United States.

The ICE agent was operating under the orders of a “local organized crime figure with business interests in Mexico,” the U.S. District Attorney’s Office reported Thursday.

Felix Cisneros, 42, of Murrieta, was taken into custody on federal felony charges of aiding and assisting an inadmissible alien to enter the United States. Cisneros was eventually able to help bring the man into the U.S. through Los Angeles International Airport, the complaint stated. The man was then able to fly back and forth between Mexico City and Los Angeles.

Apparently, some ICE agents are really working for the drug cartels. Hmm, that reminds me of how things work in Mexico. Surprise!

What's your opinion of this story?

Humans are imperfect and are easily tempted by money, not just in the US, but in countries all over the world. Black markets and regulations make it very easy and lucrative to bribe individuals in uniform.

Customs agents have always been the targets of bribes. Some take the money and run, others do not. Same with cops. Some steal from the evidence room, some take payoffs from drug dealers, etc etc.

It's old news.

I'm not even a little bit surprised. The lure of money is an almost irresistible temptation for a few. A very few. I hope this guy enjoys prison.

The story said that Felix Cisneros committed multiple felonies, and was paid off with Los Angeles Dodgers tickets. I could kind of understand if Cisneros was tempted by a large sum of money, but ruining your career and potentially going to prison for Dodger tickets? Lmao.

Maybe he was told that future deals would involve cash, and he needed to prove he could deliver? Truth is always stranger than fiction, eh?

Maybe he just said that so that the Feds would not start watching dead drop sites or lockers in bus terminals where payouts usually happen.

No surprise here.

As I have mentioned here before I have a close family member who spent time in prison for drug crimes. His contacts used corrupt border patrol agents to smuggle drugs in, put them in a suitcase and ship them via greyhound bus to a predetermined location. They then had a patsy pick up the suitcase of drugs and deliver it to them.

The funny thing is once in prison the prison staff are generally the main facilitators of prison contraband including drugs.

it's just like the DEA agents who were caught at drug parties in colombia. Give so many power that none should have, some will inevitably abuse it

Yes, another example of the social pathologies caused by the drug prohibition.

Knowing how cartels work, as I do, it was probably a threat to his family that kept him in line more than a promise of a huge amount of cash.
