The people who posted this video seem to see it as some kind of commentary on race and, no doubt, the woman being interviewed states quite clearly that "race is always a consideration" and "I wouldn't have killed a Black person". However, if you listen to her it's rather evident that race was more of a tangential factor in her decision to kill than it was a primary factor. I also got the impression that she had a general dislike of men. That wasn't really addressed by the interviewer but it's definitely something I got from her comments about her "sisters".

The reason I'm posting this is because we have a lot of conversations on this forum that center on violence and race and mental illness. This woman has all of the above and it's on ready display for the observer. In watching this video I ask that you consider a few things:

1. How much of a factor was race in her decision to kill?
2. If she wasn't talking about torturing and killing some guy would you have figured her to be a homicidal maniac?
3. If she had no prior criminal history do you think this woman could have passed a background check to purchase a gun?
4. Do you think she was lying about anything she said in the interview and, if so, what was it she lied about?
5. Based on what you heard from her and may have read about her, what do you think her primary motivations were for killing her victim?
6. If this woman had walked into a nightclub and shot the patrons then claimed her motivation was ISIS would you think that was really her motivation?

Can I ask the reason why you posted this?

Sure!

I saw the interview posted on another site and, frankly, I'm intrigued by the psychology of violence. That was the main thing that drew me in. However, at the end of the interview the guy who posted the video (the one I linked to as opposed to embedded) made a number of comments about how it exposed some kind of racial thing. That got me thinking about all the threads we see around here that involve discussions of race and violence. From my perspective this interview is a fine example of how psychos incorporate different factors into the rationalization of their crimes. It also shows how the rationalization is completely detached from the act. She tortured this guy and made him watch because she's a psycho, not because he was white and she was black or because he was a "snitch".

My personal take is that the more we understand, or at least recognize, how this kind of psychosis manifests itself the more we can avoid discussing some of these issues purely in terms of race or religion or what have you. I also think that people who advocate for background and mental health checks incident to the purchase of a firearm would be well served to watch this and get an idea of how hard it can be to pick a psycho killer out of a crowd.

The problem with your gambit is that she is too weird to extrapolate. What strikes me about her is how smart she is, which does not surprise me because it is so often the smart ones who are found to be unable to cope with life, which certainly seems to be what happened with her based upon this interview. I have looked at nothing else on the web about her but this is pretty clear. I also conclude that at 36 she is unsalvagable, life with no chance a parole is the sentence that I would hand out if it were up to me. It is really sad how poorly our mental health system performs, we need to do better.

I feel like she was motivated by a psychotic rage and uses the reasons she stated to rationalize it. I feel like the calm rationalizing may balance the psychotic rage side of her. It's interesting in that I think that some folks might buy her rationale simply because of the cold blooded confidence she seems to have, even though I thought much of her rationale was unreasonable.

I do feel though that she probably has a disdain for white people and snitches but no remotely logical reasoning was given to torture the way she did.

The problem with that line of thought is that at the very end she messes up betrays that she has been giving us a show.

I saw that too.

I wonder which of her personalities actually did the tortre and murder.

I don't think rage had anything to do with it though.

To keep the rage going for 3 days during the torture would be very difficult.
