London (AFP) - WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will agree to be extradited to the United States if President Barack Obama grants clemency to the former US soldier Chelsea Manning, jailed for leaking documents, the company said on Thursday.

"If Obama grants Manning clemency Assange will agree to US extradition despite clear unconstitutionality of DoJ (US Department of Justice) case," WikiLeaks wrote on Twitter.

Assange has been living in the Ecuadoran embassy in London since June 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden to face sexual assault allegations.

The Australian former computer hacker said he fears Stockholm will in turn extradite him to the US, where he angered Washington over WikiLeaks' publication of thousands of US military and diplomatic documents leaked by former US soldier Manning.

Does this guy have any bargaining power at all? Why should anybody make a deal with him?

He knows he will never be given the chance. Makes him look good, but he would renege if the opportunity actually presented itself.

Let the show begin!

Assange seems mentally challenged.

I suspect his hosts would like him elsewhere.

Has the US actually charged him with anything to have him extradited? As far as I know its all in his mind.

Under the War On Terror, in accordance with Military Commissions Act and various NDAA amendments over the last several years, our "new law" allows indefinite detention of anybody if the executive branch declares an individual a terrorist suspect. Habeas Corpus no longer applies.

The Fourth Estate has been castrated, even though the mainstream media is a wholly owned subsidiary of the military industrial complex.

Obama should commute Manning's sentence. Relative to what she did I feel she has been punished enough. That said, I don't trust the word of Assange. Any clemency for Manning should be done without regard to Assange's offer.

He'll never have to renege and there'll be no show.

It's a no deal.

Won't happen.

"She"...LOL!

Oh, whatever

Assange is full of ****. Utterly.

The US does not currently have any extradition requests for him. This is his own personal idee fixe which he uses to hype up his followers Any investigations or secret indictments have the minor issue that he hasn't actually broken US law, e.g. there's no indication he directly solicited any data from Manning. For all his flaws, he's a smart guy, and knows that certain actions cross the line between publishing and espionage.

Meanwhile, he already fought extradition to Sweden for like 2 years, and when he was about to lose, he ran to the Ecuadorian Embassy and violated his bail, leaving his contributors and friends on the hook.

Even if you believe everything else he's said about everything else, he has zero credibility when it comes to accepting extradition judgments.

yea but, it would turn a screw in Hillary's eye and, it's possible he thinks Trump might get him off.

Sure. Until Wikileaks publishes Trump's tax returns.

Still holding on to that huh?
sigh

I wasn't being literal. My point is that it is only a matter of time before Wikileaks burns the Trump administration.

Either Wikileaks really is opposed to excessive government secrecy (in which case, they will turn against Trump, because there is no way he's going to let up on the surveillance state) and/or they really are working with the Russians (who will eventually want to embarrass Trump).

The US hasn't issued a warrant. It is doubtful he ever would be charged in the US for any actions that they presently know about.
