ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WWLP) – US Marshals and Massachusetts State Police are searching for James W. Morales, who escaped from the Wyatt Correctional Center in Central Falls, Rhode Island Saturday night.

The former Army reservist was in custody for theft of weapons from a federal armory in Worcester in 2015. He was previously charged with aggravated rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a person under age 14.

Most versions of this story are reporting the gun charges, but not the aggravated rape of a child. Hmm, imagine that?

Wouldn't you think that the public, especially those in the Massachusetts and Rhode Island area might like to know that an escaped child rapist is loose in their midst?

Thoughts?

Here's multiple articles pertaining to this story I found (right in the top stories results) that mention the child rape charges:

Correct.

One blurb, at the very bottom of the story.
"He was also indicted on charges he raped an 8-year-old girl in Cambridge." Practically an afterthought.

The very last line of the entire story! Duhhhh. We don't need to know that he climbed a basketball hoop to escape, yet that's featured at the start!

Nearly identical story as your last link, again the most important detail is dead last.

Showing articles where journalists tried to bury the part about him being a rapist doesn't really help your point.

Correct.

If they were really trying to bury that fact, they wouldn't have put it in the article to begin with.

Journalists are well aware of the fact that most online readers never make it to the last line of a story .

Only a small number of you are reading all the way through articles on the Web. When people land on a story, they very rarely make it all the way down the page. A lot of people don’t even make it halfway.
How people read online: Why you won’t finish this article.

Journalists compose their articles based on which pertinent facts they actually want you to know. Facts at the top of stories are what they want you to see. Those facts placed at the bottom are put there on purpose.

Like I said, if they were really trying to bury this, they wouldn't have even put it in the article. But they did put it in there, because they aren't "burying" it at all.

If you want to believe your own conspiracy theories instead, then that's fine.

Ain't no skin off my nose. Bye now. :2wave:

'Conspiracy theory'?

You provided 4 links that mention the child abuse, and every one of them waits until the end of the story to talk about it, even though its the most pressing issue of this story.

Your usually more independent-minded than the typical liberal I debate here. I'd expect you to get the point I was making.

Absolutely correct. I rarely read the entire story...too many stories, not enough time in the day.

You are going out of your way to prove a point you can't make. They ARE burying those facts. Bury means to push to the bottom so as not to be noticed....not eliminate it altogether. Seems you may have your terminology confused.
