D.C. police on Tuesday charged a 29-year-old man with the slaying of an actress and yoga instructor who went missing on Christmas Day.

Adrian Duane Johnson was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Tricia McCauley. McCauley’s body was found in her car early Tuesday, and police said an autopsy showed she had been strangled.

The report says officers found the body inside the car. The chief said he did not know when McCauley was killed or when she encountered the suspect.

“We do not believe at this time that the suspect knew the victim,” Newsham said.

McCauley had been heading to dinner at the home of a friend and had notified him that she was on her way about 4:30 p.m. on Christmas. “But she never arrived or responded to calls or texts,” the friend posted on Facebook.

I'm posting this here, because the story will likely disappear soon, never to be talked about again.

If McCauley had been armed, she might still be alive. The US can be a very rough place for a pretty, single woman of her appearance.

Very tragic. I can't imagine how her family is dealing with the news.

Her brother issued this statement: "Tricia is gone, they have found her body. Thank you all for your work, support and love. To all of her DC family, I know she truly thought of you that way, thank you for being there for her all these years. Hang on to each other."

She sounds well loved by friends and family.

IMO, women who travel to dangerous places need to be armed and trained how to shoot. Same applies to any woman living with an abuser or is trying to leave one.

Was there a motive for this killing?

Upon what do you base the bolded?

She has no family? No friends? What?

Then I'll clarify; since the killing happened 2 nights ago, it'll be out of the news by Friday, never to be talked about, as say, the Trayvon Martin case is/was by the media.

She's white, therefore the mainstream media is going to bury it as if it never happened.

That's his point. And I completely disagree with it.

CVS is Dangerous?

For goodness sakes this isn't a gun issue. This seems like a random act of violence. Arming and training civilians? Do we live in Iraq?

Ah yes, because the meeja obviously hates white people. Or something.

Haha. You knew about this case before I posted here? Would you have heard about it? Point proven. :2bow:

The story likely WILL be out of the news cycle, but not for the reasons that the OP seems to think.

No, that's going too far. The media doesn't believe in bringing attention to hate crimes against whites, or even spot lighting cases with white victims/black offenders however.

OK. What makes this case, while tragic, particularly noteworthy that it should receive heightened coverage?

Ah, so this is just more of the "aggrieved white man" schtick. Gotcha.

Why will this story disappear soon then?

Because there's not much particularly noteworthy about it on a national level. It's a terrible tragedy, but really, what's the hook? The only potential one would be if the perp turned out to be a serial killer.

You've gotta be kidding me. This article was posted 6 hours ago.

And Carrie Fisher died today, and the media was in a frenzy because of it, so it's entirely reasonable that I didn't hear about this story until now. Especially since this story has no major impact nationally.

Put the white victim card back in the deck please.

That is a stinking tragedy but yes the story will likely disappear. Why?, because there are probably dozens of tragedy stories like this around the country every day. Just in my town we have had an ex husband kill his ex wife's parents and brother then we had a boyfriend break both the legs of a two year old daughter of the mother he was living with. It just goes on and on.

Note too, the US can be a very rough place for not just pretty women of her appearances.

Right. Unfortunately, these kinds of murders happen all the time in America. Not that big of a grab.

But when something big happens (like Carrie Fisher passing away for example) the media hops on it.

The victim was doing something good and productive with her life;
""I know she would want us to keep breathing and keep working to find inner peace to help foster outer peace throughout the world," she said.Man Charged With Murder of Yoga Instructor Who Went Missing on Christmas Day | NBC4 Washington

The man who killed her was one of so many horrible people who didn't care about her work to try to help people. So let's bring attention to that rather than stirring racial flames every time a career criminal is gunned down by police.

You don't see the difference between the killing of an unarmed citizen by police -- agents of the state, sworn to serve and protect, and rightfully held to a higher standard -- and a homicide, even a grisly one like this?
