Which would you say, cruel woman or a candidate for Mother-of-the-Year?

As for me, I think she should be stood up as an example of what real parenting may require you to do. I know it couldn't have been an easy choice for her to make - ignore what her son did, or be a responsible parent.

She has my respect. As does her son, after hearing his comments in the video, and how he feels now.

What do you think?

As far as "mother of the year" that might be pushing it because it just seems to me she did a good job as a mom and had a ball park reaction to what a mom should of do. I know my mom or dad would of did the same thing and I DEFINITELY would of got an ass whoopin included. I'm just saying it seems like in today's world we reward or pat people on the back for what they SHOULD do. Lastly I dont see one single thing "cruel" about it. IMO theres no actions in the video that fit that definition.

Well, on the plus side a juvenile record can be sealed, and if he is sent to an actual rehab style program rather than just standard JV detention he might be salvaged.

On the other hand, prison systems are not the best places to pick up good social habits...they are often training and recruiting grounds for gangs and other criminal endeavors.

Not forgetting to mention that they can be very dangerous places to inhabit, especially for the young and vulnerable.

Did she do the right thing socially? She certainly did.

Did she do the right thing by her son? Only time will tell. :unsure13:

With as abusive as the state tends to be I would never turn in someone I loved for anything under violent assault, where I thought the person was guilty.
