I am glad I don't live in town anymore. The stupid hurts.

  • Video was posted on Facebook November 9 and has garnered four million views
  • Madison County Sheriff's Office investigated after it was sent to them
  • They say they found out pot was being sold from the home, and raided it
  • Kenneth White, 49, and Terry Brown, 23, were arrested on gun and drug charges
  • An assault rifle, two handguns, a shotgun and body armor were also found
  • Cops are now investigating the other men who appear in the clip
The video, which shows 19 people - most with guns - posing in a freeze-framed 'shootout', was posted on the Facebook profile of Hailey Nichols on November 9. It has since received more than four million views.Among those viewers were Madison County Sheriff's Office investigators, who were sent the video by a concerned citizen.

'You have a lot of people with firearms at one address,' Captain Mike Salomonsky said. 'And you have to ask yourself the question, "Why?" and the second question you have to ask yourself: Is it a public safety issue?'
During the ensuing investigation, police say, they discovered that the house was being used to sell marijuana, and obtained a search warrant.

They had guns, so they raided them for pot?

No. They raided them for drugs.

1. They had guns and investigated.
2. They found out they sold drugs there and got a warrant.

From the posted article.

Guns and weed, sounds pretty American to me.

Investigated because some busybody thought they had "too many guns"?

It sounds like a bogus investigation.

1. "house being used to sell marijuana". You mean like a bitter informant who just doesn't like the family and conjured up some b.s.?

2. "Public safety issue"? Not buying that excuse at all.

If they cops had said they investigated because they recognized that there were convicted felons who are not legally allowed to own guns, then I'd buy the story, but that's not what triggered the investigation. It has been shown time and time again that "they sell guns at that house" is one of the most bogus excuses cops use to justify a raid.

Doesn't seem to me that the police had a valid reason to investigate.

So...a video which these morons shot themselves invited scrutiny, during which it was determined the location was used to sell marijuana and several of the participants were felons. (Marijuana IS still illegal in Alabama, as is possession of a firearms by a felon).

How is it again people think the cops SHOULDNT have responded???

The dumbasses ought to have their thug union cards revoked.

Well we don't know what the local pd knows about these people and their history.. They may be felons, drug dealers, gang banger for all we know..

But, pics of guns is no reason to investigate barring any of the above circumstances..

In reality that really isn't that many guns..

"An assault rifle, two handguns, a shotgun and body armor were also found"

Yeah so what? Unless they were otherwise criminals..

Making a sensational story with the guns being the main subject is misleading..

If they were all legal I'd defend their right to be left alone..

hope they spend an eternity in prison

Why? Having a few guns and sold some pot makes one as bad as a serial killer to you?

could care less about the guns. huffing the pot ruins lives

What laws require a valid reason to investigate?? If the police see something that looks wrong, they have a responsibility to check things out. A newly broken window in an abandoned house isn't illegal, but it reason to take a second look. If these officers saw something that looked wrong, then doing some investigation is fully warranted.

IMO, all the opposition to this story is about the fact they were busted for pot and little else. Had this been a meth lab, I'd wager that most of you would have been applauding their efforts.

If I were you I wouldn't read the article in the OP.

White was charged with first degree possession of marijuana and 'certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm' - a charge that forbids convicted felons from owning a gun.

Felon poses with gun, puts it on facebook.

If they were known felons, then I could see the investigation.

If they were known drug dealers... meh, that's pushing it. They should have shut them down already if it was known.

What everybody here is missing is probable cause. What was the probable cause for the investigation and resulting warrant? Just because somebody got scared and turned them in?
