A new Department of Homeland Security study revises and lowers the estimated success rate in stopping illegal immigrants crossing the southern border, but even that figure paints a misleading picture, according to the president of the union representing border patrol officers.

The Associated Press said last week that the report, which has not yet been made public, estimates that 54 percent of the roughly 315,000 people trying to cross the border in fiscal year 2015 succeeded. That is significantly worse than the 81 percent success rate in stopping illegal border crossings that the government officially claims.

The facts available to us all are scary enough.

And as someone who lives in a border state and who has experienced the impact of illegal immigration on Americans in my state, I'm pretty sure that the number of those crossing the border illegally is surely underestimated. For ever person who is caught, how many have not been?

Official numbers are most often meaningless and deceptive.

That is very true.

I've seen it first hand with the way COMPSTAT crime statistics encourage division commanders to change the classification of crime reports to a lower crime to "reduce crime statistics".

All because division commanders don't want to get chewed out by a very very political police chief.



I can't imagine how bad that sort of thing gets at the federal level of government.
 
The Border Patrol Union has been complaining for at least two decades about this. The agents refer to "Gotaways" on the radio to dispatch as "Golf." They'll call in 200 Golf in a shift, and the numbers somehow get changed on the log. I'm not saying the dispatchers are complicit. Many of them are agents assigned to the radio room because of injuries and such. But it's been happening a while.

And when you watch the show "Border Wars" it's a complete charade. When a film crew comes to the border, they'll assign triple the agents and air units and scope trucks to that area to make it look like the border is locked down tight. While in the next Zone on either side, there's the usual one agent covering 2 miles of border fence trying to arrest 4 groups crossing simultaneously by himself.

"Charade" is certainly the best word to describe so many of the operations of federal agencies. What they say and show on TV is not too close to reality. Dog & Pony Shows.
 
Our country is being invaded and has been for many, many years.
Both parties are guilty for allowing this to continue. Why won't the
federal government enforce our existing immigration laws?
How can you be a country with no borders?

Because the government bodies lie to us routinely. I've seen this manipulation going on at all levels of govt.

From my experience working with ICE, Border Patrol and BATF...it's very bad.

Because the Shadow Govt. dictates what goes on....and the POTUS is at times...a mere figurehead and gets his marching orders from unseen people that actually control the government.

They lied about how many people would get Reagan amnesty. So I can see them deliberately under reporting how many illegals we got.
 
Calling in "golfs" to make a tally is ludicrous. It makes it sound like the whole 2,000 mile border is being watched by the border patrol. I don't think that there are that many border agents.
