There is just TONS of misinformation going around on this subject so I figured I'd look for reasonable, unbiased information. Fortunately, it seems that The Guardian has put together a decent resource for us - https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2015/jun/01/the-counted-police-killings-us-database#

I wanted to go through things in more detail but it's a whole lot of data and I don't see a way to DL it all so I ran some numbers back through the 15th of September. In that time frame the resource cites 19 deaths at the hands of police. I did a quick search to see if I could fill in some information that wasn't in the resource so my numbers are going to look a little different than what you see from the Guardian.

8 of the 19 deaths were White, 4 were Black, 1 was Hispanic and I couldn't confirm 6 others
2 of the 19 were unarmed. One was White and the other was Black
In 19 of the 19 cases the dead person resisted cops to some extent
For the 6 cases where the race is unknown I was able to find 4 names

Of the 788 the Guardian lists as killed by police in 2016, 65 are listed as unarmed and White, 33 are listed as unarmed and Black and 19 are listed as unarmed and Hispanic

The Guardian shows 136 Black, Armed and shot by cops. 281 were White, Armed and shot by cops.

Feel free to play around with these numbers and see what you can find but contrary to Twitter, Facebook, CNN, the White House and all kinds of other sources it sure doesn't look like cops are treating Blacks any different than anyone else when it comes to use of lethal force.

Yeah, CNN has Stephen Jackson from Atlanta (former NBA player) on right now saying that blacks are killed more than whites, and that police are afraid of blacks because they dominate sports and dominate entertainment and have more power because of that that blacks don't even know. CNN has also been showing a video clip of a Nation of Islam preacher and even thought they do put "Nation of Islam" at the bottom of the screen, they just call him a "local pastor" when describing him. Nation of Islam is a racial hate group, no different than the New Black Panther Party and the KKK. How the hell can CNN get away with that? The entire nation would be up in arms if CNN, or Fox, or anyone else, had put David Duke on the air and called him a "local politician" rather than a the Grand-freaking Dragon of the KKK. Do black hate groups get a special pass now?

I had to go to the neighborhood where all the crap happened last night in Charlotte, and it was quiet when I went through today. I'm not looking forward to tonight, however.

The riots are the intellectual equivalent of a 2 year old's temper tantrum. It IS NOT the way promote "social justice" and probably does more to damage the cause.

As you know, we just had local police officer shot and killed. We didn't riot. We didn't go to the drug houses that everyone knows are drug houses and burn them down. We didn't go to the neighborhood where the guy lived that killed the officer and start throwing bricks at the people that live there, or block the roads, or anything violent. We had a prayer meeting. We put the officer's car in front of the police department and let people put flowers, balloons, and notes on it. We didn't get on TV and say that all black people are bad and target the white community - like a black female attorney on CNN just this second said that "they lie on police reports and target the black community" when talking about all police.

There are ways to get change. Riots, blaming third parties for the actions of others, and intentionally dividing ourselves by race like is being done by many of the protestors and those that excuse the violence of the rioters are doing, are not even close to making the list of ways to get change.

As an aside - I ordered more ammo today.

You bet it does more damage to the cause.

LOL that's hilarious.

yeah...today rioting, burning, and looting

a year from now, they will be wondering why there isnt anyplace to buy stuff from locally, and still no jobs

you would think eventually the word would get out....you are only hurting yourself

why would someone "invest" in a community that doesnt care about itself?

The blacks in Charlotte immediately commemorate Scott's death with free flat screen TV's from Walmart, beating up white people, beating up truck drivers, and shutting down I-85.

The perception of police leaning more heaviiy on blacks, along with the violence and rioting, is from the local perspective only. The nationwide statistics, showing how other whites (or blacks) from other neighborhoods are treated by other police deartments don't carry any local sway.

Nobody would be expected to be overly impressed by insurance company stats showing that most claims, nationwide, are paid quickly (within six days) when their own claim has not been paid for months. Folks care most about life in their local, ****ty little piece of the world - not so much about the nation as a whole.

The mentality seems to be that it isn't their fault. Near as I can gather the general idea is that they're forced to do these things because every single, solitary piece of "the system" is rigged against them.

Yep, its reparations time folks - all blacks, so inclined, are free to pay themselves back for the (alleged) evil acts of some white guy to some black guy. They are victims (by racial proxy), damn it, and Walmart, any white folks, truck drivers or interstate travelers must pay the price of appeasing them.

Yeah that's an interesting point. I'm sure the cops in Beverly Hills in California or "The Villages" in Florida and other types of neighborhoods are inflating some of those statistics.

And a free early Christmas at Walmart's loss.

Excellent post, my friend!

I think this reasonably explains the perception problems on both sides of the issue.

Yep, the guy with a sore and lumpy head cares little about how rare police beatings, in general, are. ;)

The bigger problem is with those that wish to use that other guy's lumpy head (or death) to justify taking their own "reparations" from Walmart. That is not how to correct the problem of a few rogue (or racist?) police officers.

Yep - "All politics is Local"!

If my teenage kid is pregnant, her brother is doing B & E's, and my wife is running around behind my back - it's little consolation if you show me national stats to the contrary!
