Greenwald charged in Brazil

I know that I have a poster trailing me that has the temperament of a spoiled 5th grader.

Does that count?

You are rather insistent on derailing this thread. Can you stay on topic which has nothing to do with Obama?

You are the one who can't give it up.

You made the accusation of a Russian propagandist

You are the gift that keeps on giving.

After you used whataboutism to derail the thread which is an old soviet tactic. The topic is about Glen Greenwald, not Obama. I know the game is to never play defense but im giving ya one more chance.

Thank you for demonstrating so neatly why the popularity of authoritarians is on the rise around the world.

Thank you for showing how your own statements have no merit whatsoever.

Whataboutery is very well suited for special soviet propagandists

bomberfox:

Is it whataboutism to compare the record of one president with his predecessor? I think comparing President Obama's record regarding press freedom to President Trump's is a valid comparison. The fact that one president attacked the media covertly because he was a technocratic statist as opposed to another president attacking the press overtly because he is a vain authoritarian with branding preoccupations is irrelevant. Both presidents attacked press freedom with exceptional ferocity for their own reasons and that is the important take-away. A free press must be protected from both smooth-talking technocratic statists and from brash, brazen egomaniacs who want a well polished brand.

Cheers.

In the USA the media is free to propagate misinformation such as hate radio and FOX News.

Jean-s:

If Americans don't buy into being fed misinformation and don't tune into hate radio, then those two problems will be self correcting due to low demand. However too many Americans thrive on such polarising media sources. If American media consumers will not correct the problem themselves, then reinstate the "fairness doctrine" by law on all media (broadcast, cable, satellite and internet) so that a more balanced presentation is required of every for-profit media source. These are not insurmountable problems.

Cheers.
