How true, it is scary for sure. Lets just wait and see. Who knows, there might be some stupid explanation, some coincidence.

Crisis Hits Dominican Republic Over Deaths of U.S. Tourists

    6/23/19
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — The tourism minister grimaced as he read aloud the causes of death in autopsy reports of the growing number of Americans who have died recently while vacationing in the Dominican Republic: Heart attack. Septic shock. Pneumonia. “There is no mystery whatsoever regarding any of these deaths,” said Mr. García, even as he acknowledged that the F.B.I. was investigating what had happened to a Maryland couple found dead in their room at an all-inclusive resort in La Romana on May 30. That puzzling episode helped ignite the crisis now encircling the Dominican Republic’s tourism industry, a pillar of the Caribbean country’s economy that employs more than 300,000 people. At least nine American tourists have died in the country over the past year, and separate reports are emerging of Americans being assaulted at Dominican resorts. “The perception of safety has already been attacked,” said Dr. Duffy. “You can see how vulnerable tourism-dependent countries are to a crisis like this, and I’m calling it a crisis because they’re starting to roll out the media campaign and the crisis response.”
I think perhaps this ongoing saga has fallen prey to the 24 hour news-cycle. In a country with 2 million American tourists annually, 9 deaths on the island seems to fall into the statistical range of normal. Still, there have been known complaints of strong fumigants being used that may be a health concern, it seems to take ambulances and medical personnel an inordinate time to respond to emergencies, and there are increasing physical attacks on tourists/foreigners in the country. For a small nation highly dependent on tourism, they are going to have to be much more transparent on the cause of tourist deaths and perhaps increase the visible presence of security. Suspicions alone can ruin tourism for an extended period which in turn would badly hurt the DR economy.

Only in Trump's America would con men be able to steal someone's house and get away with pretending it is all legal.

Folks should be very leery of reverse mortgages.

Apologies for this detour. Back to the OP now.
