Even gay and black Brazilians have figured out that a government that serves "turd sandwiches" is worse than a President that occasionally says annoying things

According to the Gay Grupo Bahia charity, 387 murders and 58 suicides occurred in Brazil last year due to "homotransphobia" -- an increase of 30 percent as compared with 2016.

But Trabuco says he's far more concerned about being unable to "step out into the street with a cell phone in your hand."

"I'm not just thinking about myself, nor worrying if he'll accept my (sexual) orientation," he added, referring to Bolsonaro.

"I'm worried about security and health."

- 'Right-wing gay' -

Thiago Geraldo -- who is 29, gay and unemployed, having failed to finish university -- says Bolsonaro won him over with pledges to battle Workers' Party "corruption."

On Sunday, Geraldo took part in a massive pro-Bolsonaro demonstration in front of Rio de Janeiro's iconic Copacabana beach.

He wore a sleeveless T-shirt emblazoned with an image of the right-wing leader and took part in chants against "PT communism" and "gender ideology."

Sheepishly, he admits to having previously voted for the PT before a series of corruption scandals engulfed the party's top brass -- former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has been jailed and his successor Dilma Rousseff was impeached.

Now a "right-wing gay," Geraldo says he believes that a strong government is needed to create employment and banish the fear of spiralling violence that left 63,800 people dead last year.

"A good citizen who is armed can protect me," he said, balking at suggestions that a Bolsonaro government would spell bad news for the LGBT community.

So was Hitler's anti-semitism justified too? Sure they exterminated some Jews but the economy improved and crime went down. That is the logic being applied here.

The right does not care about people's rights as long as it is not their rights being taken away.

Try walking the streets of Recife at night, then get back to me about whether you would rather see Haddad or Bolsonaro in the Palace on the Plateau. The choice is between a friend and ally of Venezuela's Maduro and Castro's Cuba or anti-Communist Bolsonaro.

So Hitler or Stalin. Brazil is partly to blame here.

He's playing the Trump "outsider" card for all it's worth.

Bolsonaro's problem with Brazil's previous dictatorship is that it didn't kill enough citizens. But hey, as long as he isn't a leftie, amirite?

How many have died on the PT's watch by coddled criminals? Dilma Rousseff should have been killed; she organized terrorism to organize a Communist revolution.

G1 - Ustra diz que Dilma integrou grupo terrorista para implantar comunismo - notícias em Política

Dilma Rousseff participated in terrorist organizations with the intention of implanting Communism in Brazil. If the military hadn't fought, Brazil would be under a "dictatorship of the proletariat".

She fought against a brutal military dictatorship in the 1960's. A brutal military dictatorship that Bolsonaro complains wasn't brutal enough. Interesting that you think that Bolsonaro is the good guy in all of this. Are you fine with murderous dictatorships as long as they are right-wing?

edit: I've just seen that your avatar is a picture of the right-wing dictator Pinochet who killed thousands of his citizens. I guess that answers my question.

I have heard that the crime in Brazil is HORRIFIC.

We simply cannot censure the people who voted for Mr. Bolsonaro. (Speaking of crime, wasn't he even physically attacked during the campaign?)

Brazil has had the most awful politicians.

Some people, of course, say that a country gets the government that it deserves. Interesting theory.

Twenty of the fifty most dangerous cities in the world are in Brazil. There's actually a joke about your premise. When God made all the countries of the world, he gave Brazil an abundance of resources, great weather, beautiful beaches and other natural wonders. The other countries began to complain how unfair this was. God replied to their complaints by saying "Just wait until you see the people I'm going to put there".

Are you a proud boy? Your support for someone who has praised right-wing violence against the left and your Pinochet avatar suggests a link.

Their tattoo requirement is a deal breaker.

But not their advocating violence against the left and their racism? That's fine with you?

Well, Brazil really needs crime to go down. 60,000 murders in a year is a bit much. It might even be enough to make a member of the ACLU vote for the Nazi.
