New York Times and BBC just called the election for Pinera!

And this is historic, because Gullier ran on the platform of incumbent socialist senator Michelle Bachelet who made eliminating the rights in the 1980 constitution a prime issue. the left in Chile wanted to end school vouchers, and end the privatized pension system, they relentlessly attack these systems as being illegitimate because they were imposed by the Pinochet government. Gullier was openly talking about eliminating the neoliberal policies instituted by Pinochet in the `1980 constitution. There was also controversy over pro-abortion laws passed by Bachelet that Gullier made protecting a plank on his campaign. It seems these arguments were soundly rejected, and it wasn't even close. 55% of the take is going to Piñera.
