Fledermaus:
You asked me about whether I was talking about the Sinai insurgency. I said yes and then described what the State of Egypt and its military were doing in Sinai. The Palestinian diaspora settlers in Sinai are some of the people being attacked by the Egyptian Armed Forces, along with Egyptian militants and Egyptians caught in the middle. I described all three groups in response to your question. There was no pin-balling.
If it "matters zero" whether the bullet striking down a Palestinian is of American origin or not, then why does it matter that an IED set by Iraqi militants in Iraq which kills or wounds American servicemen is of Iranian origin or not? It does matter in both cases.
The Egyptians are killing innocent people with arms supplied from your country. That should be a concern for you since it affects your country's foreign policy.
The Egyptian Armed Forces are using American multi-role strike aircraft and American made attack helicopters against their own population. They're not wheeling up lines of Soviet era D-30 122 mm guns to do this killing. They're using M-113s, YPR's, EICVs made in Egypt under US license, Gage Commando armoured cars/APCs and US supplied tanks plus uS supplied air power to kill their own citizens and residents.
The Syrians and the Russians are under international sanctions for their military tactics and strategies. Egypt (and the State of Israel) are not and Egypt is receiving hundreds of millions of dollars of US military aid per year instead. Do you not see the difference here?
The majority of North African and Middle Eastern regimes will not change that brutal behaviour unless it costs them too much to continue it. So start I'm posing costs along with the states which are doing it already.
If you don't blame the American Government and American Arms Industries for what Egyptian leaders and pilots do with American arms and munitions, then why blame Iran or Saudi Arabia for the aid they give state and non-state actors who use that aid to attack American interests and American personnel? Is an Egyptian or a Palestinian fundamentally less human than an American and thus imbued with less natural rights to live and prosper?
Cheers.
Evilroddy.
Let's get one thing straight.
Egypt is killing people with weapons from around the world and all you appear to focus on is what the US has exported relatively recently.
If a bullet is fired from a rifle the chances are huge that it was a Soviet bloc weapon.
If a shell is fired from a towed artillery the chances are huge that it was a Soviet bloc weapon.
If a rocket is fired from a launcher the chances are huge that it was a Soviet bloc weapon.
The list goes on.
And on and on and on...
Now that Egyptians are armed with newer toys you believe their tactics will evolve in kind?
How did that work out for Iraq after they purchased their Soviet bloc, French, Chinese and English weapons of war?
Or after the fall of Iraq and they were rearmed with newer gear. How did they fare against ISIS?
New Toys =/= New tactics as applied to many nations.
BTW -
For the most part. M113s get your soldiers with their Soviet weapons is place.
YPR - Dutch. Not American.
EICV? If you mean EIFV it is an M113 derivative Box-O-Troops with local add ons. Egyptian manufacture.
All those are outnumbered by Panthera/T6 and other Soviet sourced or locally manufactured units.
And the Gage Cadillac you keep going on about? A few hundred. Outnumbered by BTR-50s and others.
So, tell me.
You want the US to control the Egyptian Army now?
