And granted, a more subtle President could have expressed skepticism with a bit of wry humor, without "instructing" any foreign government on how to treat their common American political enemies.

However, it's an overstatement to imply that Israel did not largely make the decision on its own. Two weeks ago the Israeli government intended to waive their anti-BDS law and allow the pair's visit, in spite of the US administration having asked the Israeli foreign minister to turn them down. However the Israeli government changed its mind once it reviewed the itinerary - the entire visit would only to entertain the Palestinian Authority in East Jerusalem and entirely intended as a PR stunt to provoke incitement against the State of Israel - it had no interest in studying Israel's activities or position.

After the rescision was announced Trump jumped on the bandwagon publicly with a tweet.

Two other points ought to be noted as well:

First, this is not without precedent. Obama's 2012 state department banned a visit by Israeli Knesset member Michel Ben Ari to launch a joint project with the Knesset and Congress.

Second, Congressional Democratic Party leaders had already made it clear that wanted Netanyahu to accept Omar and Talib or their might be consequences.

Third, such Democratic interference with Israel's government choices included that of influencing (or attempting to influence) Israel's elections.

In other words, its a bit late for critics to start hair-pulling over Trump's tweet, criticism that depends depending on whose ox is gored.

It's NOT a precedent. Michel Ben-Ari was a member terrorist organization that was declared so by the U.S. in 1994 and the group was banned by Israel in 1988. NOT the same.

Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin decided to cancel the visit of a delegation of Knesset members to the U.S. Congress at the end of the month after the U.S. State Department refused to grant a visa to Ben-Ari, a student of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane, The Jerusalem Post said.

Ben-Ari considers himself one of Kahane's disciples, the newspaper said. Israel banned Kahane's Kach party in 1988 for racism and the U.S. State Department declared the party a terrorist organization in 1994.

And the thing is he could provide "cover" with the statement that came from the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, as I recall ( could have been State) but instead he acted like a drunken asshole who dishonestly attacked members of Congress, and it's so normal no one ever blinks at this point. Of course he did....

Screw the state of israel. What's makes them so special?

There is a huge difference between the state of israel and jewish people but some folks don't seem to understand that. It's ok for our president to criticize other countries and call them ****holes but don't let a democratic woman say anything negative about israel and its politics.

Freedom of speech attacked by our own president. He incites hatred and blames others for hating.

Anti-Israel is not the same as Anti-Semitic.
Also, next time an anti-Arab senator or representative (Arabs are Semitic people too by the way) wants to visit say Egypt or another Arab country, the US president should propose that these countries ban the entry of such Congresspeople.

Um, point to Israel's 1st amendment. BTW, Trump never said that any of those ****hole countries don't have the right to exist.

Did you even read the quote of mine you cited before you wrote your response. The congress women wanted to visit the Palestinian Occupied Territories via Israel but not Israel itself except in transit. They said they had no interest in visiting Israel itself. Then I suggested Egyptian and Jordanian alternative routes. Palestine is not Israeli territory, it is only occupied by Israel, not owned by it.

Isreal can do what it wants, but at the same time we need to stop giving them billions of dollars in cash every year- heck they take in more free money than Puerto Rico, which is part of the US.

Excellent move on Israel's part. Here in America leftists boycott businesses and communities for supporting Trump, which is ridiculous. It is only right for Israel to ban its outspoken enemies from entering their borders.
